"We have to increase taxes on the wealthy"

The wealthy should pay a high rate because they benefit the most from public services.
So something like 30% flat tax rate seems fair.

You can use the same 30% flat tax rate on the poor as long as you give them a realistically big, flat, personal deduction like $25k, to cover the cost of doing business, like rent, food, clothing, gas, etc.
The wealthy use more public services than do the poor?
Don’t their children attend private schools?
Don’t they pay for their own health insurance?
Do the wealthy call the cops or the fire department or for ambulances more often?
Is it the wealthy who abuse their bodies and require more healthcare as they age?
Does the wealthy populate our jails and prisons?
Is it the wealthy being adjudicated at the taxpayers expense all day everyday all around the country?

Face it bud…GENERALLY speaking our able bodied poor are parasites.

Whoa. Holy crap. I'm not surprised by much any more, but this made me do a double-take. STEVE BANNON said this.

“I’m for a dramatic increase in corporate taxes. We have to increase taxes on the wealthy. For getting our guys’s taxes cut, we’ve got to cut spending, which they’re gonna resist. Where does the tax revenue come from? Corporations and the wealthy,” Bannon said during an interview with Semafor that was published Friday.

“And when they start squealing, we have a conversation,” the conservative media personality added. “We’re all partners in this, everybody’s going to take a little pain, but the working people are going to take less pain than you guys.”

On the campaign trail, Trump, Bannon’s former boss, said he wants to extend many provisions in his 2017 tax legislation, his signature economic achievement during his first White House term. He also vowed to slash taxes on tips and Social Security. Trump has also shown support for dropping the corporate income tax rate to 15 percent.

Personally, I'm for adding perhaps four new higher brackets on the top end. So yeah, I agree. On corporate taxes, we need to be careful and remain competitive globally, but I'm for establishing a Minimum Effective Tax Rate of maybe 10%, so that we don't have huge companies paying zero, like Amazon.

Trump raised over $570 billion in corporate taxes as this FACT shows by lowering taxes on off shore companies.
Now Most of the $1 trillion repatriated funds brought off shore went to stock buy backs, dividends, or pay raises.
ALL of which paid TAXES on the returns. Hence the $570 billion!

So end all the tax write off and go with a flat tax, with a large, flat, personal deduction.
Then stop funding the wars in the Ukraine and Palestine.
What's 1000% insane is, we are now taxing, borrowing and spending $7 TRILLION dollars a year just to "govern" a country holy shit!!!!!!!!!!

Notice you don’t say anything about “funding” Mexico’s people…paying them $150 BILLION per year to destroy our country….Do you honestly think we can take you seriously?

He’s wrong.

Lower taxes on everyone, especially the highest earners.

Eliminate the power for government to deficit spend.

Do a damn budget based on what comes in. If the budget is exceeded, then each tax payer should receive an invoice for their share of the overage, signed by their US Representatives.

About the first time these invoices go out you would see massive spending cuts and a change in the politicians wasting time in DC.

Yes, make the rich pay the fair share.
Define fair share.

How much of the total income tax burden should the top 1% pay? Top 10%?

You clowns constantly bleat about FAIR AHARE, but none of you can define it.

lol. Average citizens can keep daydreaming. But their dreams will never ever come true. The reasons are down below...

The Influence of Wealth in U.S. Congress and Media

The wealthy do exert significant influence over both the U.S. Congress and mainstream media, primarily through lobbying efforts.

Lobbying and Wealth

Lobbying in the United States involves special interest groups hiring professional advocates, often well-connected individuals, to influence legislation in Congress. This practice is heavily funded, with billions of dollars spent annually on lobbying activities. In fact, federal lobbying expenditures are typically around $3.5 billion each year, indicating a substantial financial commitment from wealthy individuals and organizations to sway legislative outcomes.

Research has shown that the average citizen has little to no influence on federal government policy, while the wealthy and business interests have a much greater impact. A study by Benjamin Page and Martin Gilens found that the chances of a policy passing Congress are largely unaffected by the preferences of average citizens, highlighting a significant disparity in influence.

Media Influence

In terms of mainstream media, claims of bias often arise from the perception that media outlets prioritize profits and growth over objectivity. This can lead to reporting that aligns more closely with the interests of wealthy sponsors or advertisers, rather than providing unbiased news coverage. The intertwining of wealth and media can create a landscape where the narratives presented are influenced by those with financial power.

Conclusion

The wealthy run U.S. Congress and mainstream media through lobbying. The financial resources available to special interest groups allow them to exert considerable influence over legislative processes and media narratives, often sidelining the voices of the average citizen.

Yep, if the Trump across the board tax cuts are allowed to expire.

Glad to see you support continuing them.

As long as Congress terminates the Trump cuts for the rich.

Like other conservatives, Bannon uses disinformation and lies to deflect from his fascist, anti-democratic agenda – such as ‘taxing the wealthy.’

This thread is evidence of that attempt to deflect.

Bannon is a partial conservative and a partially patriotic American. But Israel is still the most important country...
