This research tells it all. Note, it doesn't matter if Mojtaba --who we have not seen-- even knows he is the "leader" or not. Point is, IRGC manage the system there, still.

Here is a snippet.

The Iranian Regime Under Mojtaba Khamenei: Religious-Apocalyptic Radicalization For A Violent Takeover Of The Sunni World - Eliminating Israel, And Advancing The Appearance Of The Mahdi, The Shi'ite "Messiah"
MEMRI

Introduction. The Iranian regime's appointment of new Supreme Leader Mojtaba the son of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, in March 2026, under pressure from the IRGC with which he has been closely affiliated for years, marks the triumph of the radical messianic-apocalyptic stream in the Iranian establishment.

This ideology, led by figures such as Ayatollah Mahdi Mirbagheri, and before that by Ayatollah Taqi MohammadMesbah Yazdi (d. 2021) as well as by politicians from the Front of Islamic Revolution Stabil ty (FIRS, Jebhe-ye Paydari) and younger, generation IRGC officers, views seizing power as a means and an operational stage in advancing the coming of the Mahdi, the Twelfth Hidden Imam and the Shi'ite Messiah[sic].

At the core of this view is a militant interpretation of the historic 680 CE Battle of Karbala in Iraq, in which thefollowers of Ali ibn Abi Talib were defeated and massacred by the Sunni commander Yazid ibn Muawiya. According to this world view, Iran's current struggle against the Sunni Arab states is seen as continuation of thestruggle against the Sunni "usurpers " and their allies in the West, that is, the U.S. and Israel.

The Battle of Karbala, the founding myth of Shi'a Islam, is not just an historical event for the radical apocalyptic stream in Iran - it is a real-time work plan for taking control of the Islamic world. For them, Mojtaba Khamenei's taking power is not simply the dynastic continuity of a family that is worthy of leadership, but the rectification of an historic wrong that will restore sovereignty to the legitimate descendants of the .. Mohammad and avenge the Shi'te imams who were killed at Karbala. Mojtaba's ascent is considered by them as the moment when these legitimate descendants return to lead not just Iran but the entire Islamic ummah, displacing the Sunni leadership that they perceive to be the "modern Yazid." This is in effect a revival of the historic struggle for power between the Sunni and the Shi'a.

Mojtaba Khamenei's rise marks Iran's transition from a country run according to relatively pragmatic geopolitical considerations to one controlled by a apocalyptic theocratic military apparatus. In such a situation, the enemy is religiously defined and the struggle is not only against Israel or the U.S. "(the Great Satan" and "'the Little Satan"), but against any entity perceived as a "modern Yazid" - that is, direct confrontation with the Sunni world.

This radical-apocalyptic stream perceives military conflict as a test of faith, in which casualties among Muslim soldiers or civilians are considered martyrdom in the path of Imam Hussein at Karbala. According to it, any military victory over the Sunni states and Israel proves the justness of the cause and of Shi'a belief, and war is the only way Islam can be purged of Western and Sunni-Wahhabi influence and the world can be prepared for the Mahdi's comprehensive Islamic rule.

Under Mojtaba's leadership, Iran is positioning itself as the "'beating heart" of a religious empire that aspires to transform Shi'a Islam from a persecuted minority into the only prevailing religious and political current in the Muslim world (see below the 2016 MEMRI report on the 'Umm al-Qura Doctrine. 'V)

Mojtaba Khamenei And The Ideology Of The Mahdi
And now we have a Secretary of Defense just as radical. Wanting to bring on Armageddon so as to see the Second Coming. Even have military leaders telling their soldiers this line, and that they will be fighting a religious war, killing in the name of Jesus.

Hegseth used Jesus in the current operation?

More importantly:

Our president is not a devout religious person.

Theirs is.

But the US president is trying to tap into religion..
That is a whole other thing. Yet, he is still a pragmatic person, after all. See also Venezuela...

We are talking about true FANATICAL conviction.
The true danger.

Iran is basically over, the rest is a formality and a matter of time. All they have left now is hit and run type terrorist attacks on cargo ships in the Hormuz, and that will end very soon.

I hope you are correct but I heard the same thing about Iraq a few weeks in. "Mission Accomplished"

Big difference. We don’t have a 300,000 man invasion of Iran and the Iranian people are totally on board, in fact they get worried when the bombs stop dropping.

It helps to look at politics and political decisions through the lens of the DC extended establishment. Bush was extremely pro-establishment and only cared about the needs of the establishment. The dumocraps started becoming pro-establishment with Clinton and by the 2nd term of Obama they were full pro-establishment. The people got tired of both parties being two sides of the establishment coin and elected Trump. Trump is not Bush or Obama. This is not going to be another establishment forever war. How long did the war with Venezuela last? One Day? Trump has fundamentally changed politics and the establishment is no longer priority #1. Extrapolating from the establishment past does not work when analyzing Trump. This war will not go on like Afghanistan, guaranteed.

in order to justify being anti-Islam

I can't think of any reason to be anti-Islam ...

The war will not be won till the Shah is in Tehran as part of a new democratic government

And that wont happen unless the people take over the streets

The problem as I see it is that IRAN HAS NO 2nd AMENDMENT and the people have no guns

The Revolutionary Guard do have guns and are willing to use them

This is a quandary with no simple answer

Worst of all, both ideologies are creations of crazy men. Hegseth was a "recovering Neocon" last year but is the Supreme Anointed Neocon today.

Yes, he's pragmatic. He'll take the support of anyone willing to give it without hesitation. He'll tell you he's religious if that's what you want to hear. He'll tell you the economy's doing great, even if it's not. He'll lie to your face and expect you to accept it.

And here's another result of Trump's lack of good judgement and/or character:

There are no simple answers in war, this is why simple presidents never took on this challenge and feared the IRGC, and even helped them financially. I'm hoping Trump and his current staff can tackle this difficult situation with as little pain to our soldiers as possible. America is not the only nation that wanted the Iranian regime toppled, those cowards in Europe have been begging for someone else to do this for many decades and now refuse to directly help in the process. Most importantly, I think Israel has to be the first to put boots on the ground and clear a safer path for ours and any other nations who want to contribute to this task. The IRGC can be defeated, it just needs people with resolve and balls to do it.
