When criminals are released back onto the streets almost immediately people stop calling the Police to report crime. Why would they risk reprisals when the local DA doesn't put people in jail?

For the required “underlying charge or charges,” you don’t know which (if any) of the belatedly specified “underlying crimes” the jury determined that the then former President had supposedly committed.

Although there is a principle in NY State criminal law for dispensing with an obligation of the prosecution to prove what they alleged (regarding an alleged underlying crime or intent or purpose), that exception to the general rule demanding unanimous jury verdicts is only about burglary cases. It is dubious in its own right.

Nonetheless, just because a prosecutor doesn’t have to prove which “other” crime a defendant had an intention to commit when illegally entering or remaining in a home or store, does not mean that particular exception should be applied to this silly documents case.

It may have been a technically correct ruling by Merchan, but the conviction should still be overturned because they didn’t tell the defense what the underlying crime was until the end of the trial AND because that exception itself should be overruled as a violation of the Constitution.

He knew what his charges were when he was first charged. Trump gt more leeway than nyne facing 34 felony counts ever has. He didn't have to sit in jail awaiting trial, and the fact that he is not in prison today shows how much mercy he was given. So you can stop repeating the lies Trump told you.
