Two Jan. 6 police officers sue Trump to block $1.8B lawfare fund

Two police officers who defended the U.S. Capitol during the Jan. 6, 2021, riot sued President Donald Trump on Wednesday, seeking to block the $1.8 billion “lawfare” fund set up by the Department of Justice to compensate Trump allies who claim they were victims of prosecutorial overreach.

“In the most brazen act of presidential corruption this century, President Donald J. Trump has created a $1.776 billion taxpayer-funded slush fund to finance the insurrectionists and paramilitary groups that commit violence in his name,” the lawsuit in U.S. District Court in Washington, D.C., says.

“The fund, styled the ‘Anti-Weaponization Fund,’ is illegal,” the suit alleges.

“No statute authorizes its creation, the settlement on which it is premised is a corrupt sham, and its design violates the Constitution and federal law.”

I'm with the policemen, who still must be seething that members of the J/6 mob were pardoned. You know, members who included those who violently assaulted Capital policemen.

One way or another I hope this abomination of a fund is extinguished before a single dime gets dispensed to those who object to their crimes being punished.

Imagine the insult this would be to the injured cops and their families.

But the cult doesn't care. What an awful, ugly, immoral group.

I don't see how two police officers would have standing to sue here. This doesn't affect them in any way.

The fund was set up is response to a lawsuit by people who were affected by the lawfare. They did have standing to sue and a settlement was reached. You can argue that Trump was sitting on both sides of the table in that settlement, but not that it was not authorized by statute.

I bet Biden deciding to forgive $500 billion is student loan debt is not looking as sweet a deal right now.

Compensation for the abuse of J6 protesters during their unlawful incarceration is LONG OVERDUE. Many were held in solitary confinement and/or held for MONTHS with no charges.

Exactly right.
One of the worst miscarriages of justice in American history, once again proving how fascist Joe Biden's administration was. They really wanted to stay ahead of any proof they cheated in the 2020 election.

That’s ridiculous. The most corrupt deal was rhe pardons the J6 thugs got.
You didn't complain when Biden preemptively pardoned his entire family.

This is why it's called the race to the bottom. You go low, the other side goes lower, so you go lower still. And of course you complain when the other side goes one step further.

Who in his family killed cops? Biden was protecting them from MAGA lawfare.

Stop lying. No Jan 6 protester killed a cop.

Personally, I don't think any of Biden's family, OR any of the violent felons from J6 should have been pardoned. The non-violent ones who got jail or house imprisonment for merely walking through a smashed in door and wandering around in the Capitol for a few minutes was vindictive and politically motivated. But that's just me.

Cops died as a result. It didn’t have to happen that day. If you injure someone and they die days later, it’s still homicide.

On top of the indignity of having someone who violently assaulted you be pardoned. trump should have zero support from every law enforcement officer in the country.
