Washington Post, NYT and More Reject Trump’s Revised Pentagon Press Policy, Citing First Amendment Rights

On the face of the issue, I do have issues with the government's order
Having said that, Nostra, you bring up a very valid point for the government's decision.
Since Obama run at being president on, there has been many leaks being exposed
by the media.
Leaks need to be stopped. That upsets the left who doesn’t care about national security. Fortunately, now we have a Sec of Defense who cares.

Seems like good policy to me
I understand you:

I haven't read it, What are the objectionable parts?

Hegseth is an idiot who drinks too much but will do anything Trump orders him to do because he cannot think for himself. He
is a lot like tRump.
Trump can't think for himself? You guys just like to decorate huh?

Stifling the 'Freedom of the Press'.
I do believe in their right to to investigate and print topics.

But, there is a line in my opinion that can be crossed that violates
national security/classified material.

Violence, redistricting, and democratic norms in Trump’s America

In recent months, the Trump administration has continued to challenge executive branch norms as well as legal and constitutional limits on the powers of the presidency, including dramatically expanding the capacity and activities of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and deploying the military to Los Angeles and Washington, D.C. A Republican effort to change congressional district maps to gain five seats in the U.S. House of Representatives in the 2026 election was enacted in Texas, prompting California Democrats to develop a redistricting plan to offset those losses. Most recently, the conservative activist and commentator Charlie Kirk was shot and killed during a public event at a Utah university, prompting a nationwide debate over political violence and free speech.

In this context, we fielded parallel surveys of 703 political science faculty at American colleges and universities (whom we refer to as “experts” below) and a representative sample of 2,750 Americans (whom we refer to as “the public” below). The expert survey was fielded from September 5–17, 2025 and the public survey from September 5–16, 2025.

Leftard authoritarians are suddenly worried about authoritarians.
They are projecting as usual. Trump has reduced the size of the executive branch. He's gutted ultra-authoritarian and corrupt regulations. And the Democratic party of slavery, racism and authoritarianism did nothing but ***** and whine and try to block the reduction of authoritarianism.

In a joint statement issued on Tuesday afternoon, each of the major broadcast networks including Fox News issued a statement saying it would not sign the department’s policy.

“Today, we join virtually every other news organization in declining to agree to the Pentagon’s new requirements, which would restrict journalists’ ability to keep the nation and the world informed of important national security issues,” the statement read. “The policy is without precedent and threatens core journalistic protections.”
That’s not the policy that’s tne news orgs reason for not liking it.

News outlets refuse to sign Pentagon’s new press policy as deadline looms

Most of the nation’s leading news organizations have said they will not sign a policy severely restricting journalists’ access to the Pentagon ahead of a Tuesday deadline set by the Trump administration.

Outlets including the New York Times, Washington Post, The Associated Press, The Hill and NewsNation will not sign the policy, which limits access for reporters who are credentialed to work in the massive Arlington, Va., building.

The Pentagon Press Association (PPA) said in a forceful statement last week Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and his department are trying to “stifle a free press” with the new policy, which it said, “conveys an unprecedented message of intimidation to everyone within the DoD, warning against any unapproved interactions with the press and even suggesting it’s criminal to speak without express permission — which plainly, it is not.”

Only one media outlet, pro-Trump conservative network One America News, has said it will sign the Pentagon’s new policy. Conservative cable channel Newsmax has said it will not sign, calling the restrictions “unnecessary.”

Should OAN even be referred to as a news outlet?

Is this more embarrassing for the unqualified, former weekend anchor on Faux or was it his comical performance in front of the military brass? It's a tossup.
Hegseth thought they would be scared. Surprise surprise.
