Washington Post, NYT and More Reject Trump’s Revised Pentagon Press Policy, Citing First Amendment Rights

‘The Washington Post, the New York Times, the Atlantic, the Guardian U.S., Newsmax and others have spurned the Pentagon’s new press restrictions ahead of its Monday deadline.

Matt Murray, the D.C. paper’s executive editor, said the restrictions proposed by the Pete Hegseth-led Pentagon placed “unnecessary restrictions” on the reporting process.

“We will continue to vigorously and fairly report on the policies and position of the Pentagon and officials across the government,” Murray said in a statement.’

Trump, Hegseth, the rest of the Trump regime are of course enemies of the First Amendment.

Demanding that reporters publish only information authorized for public release by the Pentagon is a clear violation of freedom of the press.
So wait he wants sensitive material, that could aid our enemies if released, vetted and not leaked? Sounds legit to me! Why do you hate America so much

This was the sentiment of many during the Pentagon papers if you recollect.
The problem is, in need of being first to report, they leak classified things heard through tinted lens of the grape vine, of people with an axe to grind comprehend

tO GET A STORY.
That could aid the enemy! Then in favor of scooping someone else they leak the info and get people killed, cool story bro! Don't tell me they wouldn't they all want to be the next Woodword and Bernstein. Especially if it help democrats

Not sure what brought this on with the Pentagon. But, as long as there isn't any shenanigans being
played by the media, they should have their right in reporting and investigating, even if it's
uncomfortable for the Pentagon.
Not in the case of aiding the enemy, they can't help[ themselves

This policy doesn't stop them from doing that does it? Not having unfetter access to the Pentagon and the military wanting the press to go through the Pentagon's press office isn't restricting them from investigating anything. Neither is signing a document saying that you understand the policy and agree to adhere to it.
