Donald Trump said that if there had been people carrying guns in the Pulse Club, when Omar Matten went on his rampage, they could have stopped him. This was criticized widely by people (especially Democrats) saying that by Florida law it is illegal to carry guns inside bars/nightclubs.
1. This criticism is FALSE. Florida Statute 790.06 (12)(a)12 does say that a license issued under this section does not authorize any person to openly carry a handgun or carry a concealed weapon or firearm into a bar, HOWEVER, it also stipulates that this only applies to that portion of establishment which is where alcoholic beverages are being served. It does not apply to other places within the establishment not within or through the bar area. So you can sit at a dinner table, and legally have your gun in your pocket, as long as you have your CCW license with you.

2. If you are an official of the bar (owner, employee, security guard) you are entitled to have a gun there by Statute 790.25(3)(n)

Some Trump critics have said that there was an off-duty cop present and that he traded gunfire with Mateen, and claimed this as a criticism that an armed person being present would not have helped. I saw one such bash in the Huffington Post which mentioned an alleged off-duty cop shooting his gun, but a source link was given to an LA Times article, which contained no mention of any off-duty cop, or anyone shooting a gun other than Mateen.
Just for the hell of it though, let's hypothetically imagine that the Huffington Post article and its LA Time link was true. I would say so what ? There are numerous instances wherin an armed person DID shoot back at a terrorist, and was successful at stopping the terrorist.
Here's 3 examples:
1. On July 2 2002, an Egyptian terrorist Ahmed Mohammed Hadayet, attacked an Israeli El Al ticket counter in Los Angeles Airport. He was carrying 2 handguns with 200 bullets on him. The airport was filled with people. Hadayet shot and killed 3 people and wounded a few others. He was shot dead by a security guard, right on the spot.
2. On September 24, 2014, at Vaughan Foods, in Moore, Oklahoma, a Muslim terrorist beheaded a woman, and was attacking a 2nd woman when he was shot and stopped by an employee of that company, Chief Operating Officer Mark Vaughan.
3. On May 3, 2015, at the Curtis Culwell Center in Garland, Texas, 2 ISIS terrorists were shot by a cop working security there and stopped. They were not killed initially but were killed (cut to pieces) by the Garland Police SWAT team that arrived after the security cop stopped the terrorists.
