Again, any large organization is going to have waste. And when you go for massive cuts, you tend to eliminate things that are good before you get to the stuff that is bad.

You have evidently never been in a position to make decisions for a large company. There is fluff that can easily be cut at most large organizations. Fluff that has little effect on anything. The US government is like the largest organization in the world with absolutely loads of fluff. 100s of billions could be cut and the average American wouldn’t even know.

Nope, but I've been at companies that did cutting, and instead of getting rid of the dead weight, they get rid of whoever they can fire through the path of least resistance.

That person is a performer, but has less seniority and will get a small severance package? Get rid of him and keep the dead weight who have been here long enough to figure out how to just get by.

I admit, before I got married, I've had very little interaction with the government. Renew my license once every four years, pay my taxes, that's about it. Most of what they do happens in the background and you never notice it.
