In the earlier story about the garden of Eden humans were the gardeners who served the gods. God brought a global flood because the humans had become too numerous and too noisy. They had become pests.
The Semitic people constructed, a religiously motivated evolution story, starting off at around 1500 B.C. (trying to promote the idea of a monotheistic religion, who's big boss is a Semite) whilst incorporating existing and known "legends" & "tales" of the Semitic world - foremost that of today's, Syria, Iraq, Iran, (ranging from 2000BC to 12,000 BC) and adding/incorporating known tales originating from today's India/Pakistan, Turkey and Egypt, that came to the Semitic world via trade and migration routes from around 10,000 B.C. onward).
The "Flood" most likely originated from the natural catastrophe (around 15000 B.C. that created the Black Sea. And might also be in correlation to the Atlantis story. Until today archeological evidence places the "origins" of advanced human civilization (stone dwellings and stone sculpturing) in the Black Sea area - aka the Northern Turkish coastline.
(Around 800 B.C. onward) this existing Semitic "constructed religiously motivated evolution story" was drastically altered, by the offspring of Hebrew followers, enabling them to claim a "promised land". (aka to justify the conquest of Canaan as being a Godly allocated task solely towards Jews aka Israelite's). The very same claim that is in existence and being used until today by Zionists.
Therefore they additionally constructed a lineage of the Semitic Abraham "according to Hebrew Bible genealogy" - starting of with Adam&Eve - Kain....Noah.... and allocating known tales/legends to these "invented people", to additionally "claim" that God is a Hebrew aka a Jew. Adam therefore according to their "altered Bible" and thus documented timeline, lived around 4000 B.C.
Humans at the time were very well aware about the general hostile environment - that constantly threatened human civilization. As such their logic dictated that a single couple, Adam&Eve, could only possibly thrive in a God protected and special created environment - thus the legend of the Garden of Eden was created.
Today's archeological findings and evidence has found several such "suitable" places on earth for humans to evolve - AFAIK the oldest one of them being the Eastern-Drift of the African plateau - aka today's Tanzania/Kenya.
Therefore if one chooses to believe into the Bible - the same person also has to accept the timeline of Adam that is set around 4000 B.C.
And that is proven to be absolutely wrong via archeological "factual" findings.
Thus the entire Jewish/Catholic aka Christian and Muslim "believe" is clearly at stake, (factually refuted/discredited) which in return results in believers to seek refuge via simply choosing from amongst whatever the Bible, NT and the Koran states.
Additionally creating new subbranches, e.g. Protestants, Mormons, etc, Suni/Shites, just to come up with new explanations (excuses), whilst constantly contradicting their own original "teachings", Persecuting, threatening, and killing so called non-believers and critics for the past 2000 years, and additionally retracting "Gods words" e.g. the Catholic/Christian Church, simply "adjusting" towards proven scientific facts e.g. the universe is not revolving around Earth, or e.g. Eden is just a parable - what an "interesting" bunch of people these religious folks are !!
Anyway, I am sure that you are aware about my "stand" in regards to religion. And that I place my "believes" onto proven scientific facts.
As to "discussing" with religious people; will never work out, since one would be robbing them of their childish believes that allow them to "manage" aka get along with their "specific" way of life.
