When I came to USMB, I thought, "Blimey, the rules must be quite relaxed around here". But don't go too far, over modding kills forums and biased modding kills forums too.

Just discovered that an old forum I have been a member of since 2005 has been destroyed by a hacker, I am a moderator there, but the owner has no clue on running the place, I wonder if he ever saved anything recently?

This is what happen when the owner doesn't do their job protecting it.

Would it be owned by Chip!

The main issue is a good amount of threads from all sides are usually troll content to bait posters into a flame attack.

Now if a poster created in the Rubber Room, Flame Zone or Badlands then of course you know it is there for a reason but most of your wonderful posters that spam this board daily put the content in Politics, General Discussion and so on while knowing their thread is troll bait.

Now recently I have been absent from this board and will come on at odd hours but it is the same posters doing it daily and you know who they are because I see their beautifully worded threads moved to the Rubber Room or Badlands.

So as you and the mods declare war on trolling just remember if a poster is known to create trolling threads then you should expect a flame war...

But

I am busy now, so I have very little to worry about when it comes to that nonsense...

The badlands, rubber room and flame zone have a different set of rules that is why they are called the taunting areas.

If your thread is tossed into those areas the rules are simple and bo threats or usage of banned words, no nudity or data mining and then it come down to if a mod believe the conversation went out of bounds that it need to be moderated but telling a female poster to go blow something is usually not out of bounds unless it hit the family rule or something about children.

So in the end the Taunting area is usually less patrolled than other regions.

Things are kinda hectic around here. Just a reflection of our "times".. USMB Mod Staff has been letting too many illegal posts slide.. Frankly, because the number of illegal posts have skyrocketed.. When we clean threads and REMOVE illegal posts, that IS a warning that shows up in your alert box.. You should take those as a hint to slow down..

We see members getting 3 or 5 posts deleted in ONE thread and just moving to another to do the same thing.. Any SINGLE "illegal post" is warnable.. We've been letting it slide a bit too much.. Because honestly, many of you are taking advantage of US working hard to keep this place clean..

What is an "illegal" post? It's NOT a matter of opinion.. ANYONE can read the simple USMB and know this.. It either --

1) Violates the very few CONTENT restrictions called out in the "Site Wide Rules" section of the Rules
2) Has NO SPECIFIC topical content in it.. Meaning that it's either OFF TOPIC or completely personal flame.
3) It is trolling or baiting other members to ENGAGE in personal or off topic replies...

NOTE -- NONE of that has ANYTHING TO DO with "censorship" or bias...

Mod Staff will be increasing the number of warnings/bans/thread bans that are handed out on illegal posts.
You will not get 2 or more deleted posts per thread without one of those consequences.

We will continue to do this UNTIL we get enough compliance to cool the place the heck down...

This forum is in dire need of an ADMINISTRATOR, who runs the Mod team and set the tempo on dealing with forum wise problems.

Report the OFF TOPIC trolling and flaming, that is what Members MUST do to help the Mods team preserve some sanity on the board.

Moderators are not the only ones responsible, we are too responsible for what we do here as well.

Now you are stepping on toes you don't know.

No they like what I am saying here, from personal experience.

It is something I am trying to do at another larger forum right now, where their Reorganization of the large forum is badly needed. Might be upgraded to Moderator board soon, if so, I will be far less active here in the future.

Also trying to save a once active forum, where I have been member since 2007, the owner no one know ( i do suspect someone) who has been absent for several years now, down to the last moderator and he hasn't sent me another reply about this forum problem, for 12 days now,

It is frustrating trying to get the server host to pass on the e-mail to the forum owner.

It's easier to call them.

It can't since I am almost completely deaf, but I will pass on this helpful suggestion to the one who sent the e-mail.

Well, of course, Coyote IS a moderator on here. It appears the same rules DON'T apply to her BECAUSE she's a moderator.

He disagreed, words have meanings to me

Biased moderation seems to be a problem on many forums.

Not really an OPPORTUNITY for a USMB to be biased.. 90% of what we do is read posts for "specific topical content"... If it's THERE --- it's legal and we just chuckle at the flaming.. If the post does NOT have "specific topical content" -- it;s illegal in Zones 1 and 2... It's that fucking simple..

Only CONTENT restrictions at USMB are spelled out in the "Site Wide Rules" section of the Posting Guidelines on the Home page. And those are MORE than reasonable..

Most of mod staff have BEEN at boards haunted by mods with TOO MUCH discretion.. We have very LITTLE discretion, but there ARE CASES where it's a judgement call.. I came here BECAUSE of the way the rules were written...

Are we targeting anyone in specific ??? Most stay on topic, and once a thread is exhausted, of course it begins to stray, but the answer to that should be to just close the thread, at that point no one cares really. Problem solved... You are welcome.. lol

Gone WAY off topic to argue with or make fun of another person posting on a thread. I've seen this at LEAST a few times. Of course she's NEVER been reprimanded for this.
