Welfare/public assistance is a generic term referring to $$ given to these people who have merely shown up in countries not of their origin. It's not just America having issues with illegal immigration. It's all of the EU and Canada and elsewhere that is economically self sufficient. Except China.....because China enslaves all illegal immigrants into Chain gang style hard labor.

No - since as in this particular case (and I was only referring to this particular case) - a minor part of their agenda happened to coincide with those people who behold a common sense.
As such Californian politicians in that specific case had indeed acted on behalf of the public's interest.
