VMT tax hidden in infrastructure bill

If everyone understood we wouldn't be having a lot of these conversations.

Free healthcare, housing, food, college, etc. Not the gov'ts. duty

Protecting U.S. citizens by way of the military, police, and enforcing our laws. Gov't. responsibility.
What you mean is wouldn't life be wonderful if everyone agreed with you? Thankfully, most Americans do not.

You mean you think people with common sense will agree with you? Sorry but I'm unconvinced.

Of course you are. You're a leftist so you march to all music provided to you by Big Brother. You don't question it, you don't research it. They tell you this is good for America and you just nod in agreement.

The truth of the matter is this country is headed for a collapse that we will never be able to dig our way out of at some point. Nearing 30 trillion and debt and growing can't last forever. On this pace, not far down the road, we won't even be able to pay the interest on our debt, and that means no more borrowing from China or anybody else. Nobody lends money to people who can't repay the debt.

You mean agree with the Constitution, don't you.

"I cannot undertake to lay my finger on that article of the Constitution that grants Congress the right, of expending on articles of benevolence, the money of their constituents."
James Madison, annals of Congress, 1794

So you want to live in the America of 1794? Fine but, since I'm not rich, I prefer the America of today and I think most Americans would agree. The rich always do well but our poor are not in danger of starving.

Please, I've seen the cult of Trump and I've seen his minions marching on the Capitol. Did they question or research anything? Have they yet?

There's an old saying: if you owe the bank $1,000 the bank owns you, if you owe the bank $1,000,000,000 you own the bank. I don't see us collapsing any time soon Chicken Little.

I'm not willing to pay MORE in taxes for anything. The government ( who has no money ) is only wasting what they collect from the people. I'm not for them wasting ANYMORE.
So you think Roads, Police, Fire Dept., Coast Guards, ... are all a waste of money..

Yes, you mean most of whom were outside peacefully protesting? Hey, at least Mike Pence didn't broadcast a Go Fund Me account to bail them out, did he? Trump didn't call it the Winter of Love, did he?

There is another saying: When you owe the bank $1,000 and can't even pay the interest on it, you lose your credit rating. When your credit rating is shot, no other bank will lend you money and your only choice is filing bankruptcy.

Look at our spending. We run a deficit every single year meaning that's money we need to borrow such as this phony infrastructure bill. Looking at the soon 30 trillion in debt, one has to ask what kind of position we'd be in today had we only adhered to the words of Madison back in 1794.

Peacefully walking over barriers that had been torn down. Pence would be a fool to bail out the people who wanted to hang him.

We'd also be in better shape if Reagan, Bush Jr., and Trump didn't cut the existing tax rate without cutting spending.

I'm a progressive and this is NOT a progressive tax, however, I like it since, as a suburbanite I don't drive nearly what a rural person would drive and they should pay for that use. If they want to live far from everyone they should pay more for their road, electricity, etc.
I agree and if they are in rural areas they shouldn't have to pay for city infrastructure, that should be for those that choose to live in the city.

And you think that's the only reason?

Reagan got us out of the worst recession of our lifetime with those cuts. Bush pulled us through the worst attack on US soil in history with those cuts. Trump gave us the best economy in 50 years with those cuts.

You don't go into debt by not bringing in enough money, you go into debt by carelessly spending on crap like buying votes.

No, I just like to point out the hypocrisy of people who whine about socialism/communism in this country but defend it when they are the recipients of other people's money.

Not seeing your point here other than you just want to make rules out of spite and because politics. I am about being fair. Sorry.
