We are now a society where it is trendy to trash monuments someone doesn't agree with. People cheered when statues of Confederate soldiers were defaced and taken down, without thought for those who struggled through that war and the long struggle to overcome the animosity between the opposing sides, without care for the soldiers that were pardoned and brought back into full citizenship. People cheer when certain political opinions are silenced online. Now people cheer when monuments to those who have died in controversial conflicts with LEO are defaced or taken down.

We have ceased to be a society where opposing viewpoints are freely voiced, discussed and thought through and are now a society that seeks only to remove or silence viewpoints found to be unpopular. 1984 has arrived.
