Well, This Ought to Make Heads Explode All Across D.C.

Well, This Ought to Make Heads Explode All Across D.C.

There probably isn't a bright red line or some official metric a city must measure up to — down to? — before being rated as Officially Ungovernable. But, if there is, surely Washington, D.C., crossed soon after the Martyrdom of St. George Floyd of Minneapolis.
"This is a safe city, but overhearing and witnessing gang threats and then watching the camera footage of the thuggery is disturbing," one D.C. resident told the Washington Post on Sunday. But — and I'm not making this up, so I'll quote WaPo reporters Olivia George, John D. Harden, and Jenny Gathright precisely — the resident who told them the city was safe was "speaking on the condition of anonymity over concerns of personal safety."
The mostly peaceful gang members tend toward violence when they hear you say they might not always be peaceful, I suppose.
Maybe that's why multiple sources inside D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser's office and within the Metropolitan Police Department indicated to WUSA9 News on Sunday that President Donald Trump will "definitely deploy the National Guard" throughout D.C. in an effort to curb crime and tackle the District's homeless crisis.
"It has become one of the most dangerous cities anywhere in the World. It will soon be one of the safest!!!" Trump posted to TruthSocial on Sunday, promising to "essentially, stop violent crime" in D.C.

Without dragging you too deep into the Constitution, Congress in Article I was given the power and responsibility "to exercise exclusive Legislation in all Cases whatsoever" for the District. No statehood, no local government — just Congress running the seat of government. If nothing else, I wonder if the Founders gave Congress that job to keep them too busy to try micromanaging the rest of the country.

Like so much that happened during the Nixon administration, maybe the kindest thing you could say about home rule is that it seemed like a good idea at the time.
If Congress won't or can't take back control of D.C., or even institute a few necessary home rule reforms, sending in the National Guard — and ICE, too, according to other reports — is almost certainly the next best option.
Although that still does leave one important question: What the hell are we going to do about the schools?

Commentary:
DC’s stats are bad, and that’s even after they’ve fudged the crime reporting statistics. It’s much worse.
At one time during the 1990's, my work required me to be in D.C. two to three times a week, sometimes requiring I stay overnight. There were signs in the lobby of hotels that was telling. They cautioned venturing to far from the hotel because of the high crime. Seemed like the night brought out the criminals like roaches.
They have bullet proof Wendy's, Mickey D's and 1/2 the gas stations, it wasn't for no reason.
Autonomous blacks cant treat anyone or anything with dignity. Its just not possible.
While defending the current situation, she did acknowledge a “terrible spike in crime in 2023”. Defending Local Authority: Bowser emphasized that the conditions necessary for the president to take control of the city’s police force under existing law are not currently present.
Even Mayor Bowser acknowledged she is against the actions proposed by DJT.
Facts, show that crime in D.C. today is higher than Chicago, New York, Baltimore even Havana Cuba.
Yet, in typical DC fashion, they just reelected a council member who had just been kicked off the council for being recorded on camera taking bribes.
Meanwhile, DJT should deploy DOGE to investigate and root out waste fraud and abuse in the DC government which was born in corruption as a payoff not to burn down the nice areas during the civil rights riots in the 1960s or 2020.
Not much left to explode.

They arent reporting crime

If I were in Washington DC and was attacked , I wouldn't bother to call the police, particularly if I was attacked by a brother. I know that policy of the District is just to let criminals go, so why bother?

I'm sure a lot of people think the same, and that's the secret that DC has in getting their crime rate down.

Even murders, like the Seth Rich case, don't get investigated

Nonsense.

The DC cops investigate crime.

They don't care what white racists think.

If they want to reduce crime in DC, all they need to do is remove the 'local' modifier from the criminal code and charge the thugs in federal courts for federal crimes. Start shipping the criminals out to federal prisons across the country.
Right? DC is federal property isn't that the basis that the j6 protesters were prosecuted on?

The Crime Rate Has Dropped, is the chant from the enablers. They say the same thing in Mexico, that the overall crime rate is down, through the magic of numbers. That's akin to saying that my husband beat me 10 times last week, but this week only 7, so things are looking up, send more money so he can drink more. MSN

fallacy of false equivalency

this fall looks like a nice time to visit Washington DC and see the various expensive monuments that have been erected. The chance of getting unfortunately mugged and/or whacked, like what happened to Seth Rich and this Huge Testicles intern fellow are at recent low. Love to see the cherry blossoms that the Japs provided to America

I was in DC in the entire summer of 1985 and walked the streets daily and nightly, and the criminals I met were okay people just like the ones I have met in many other cities.

You won't see the blossoms this time of year.

And to remember - not only did DC officials fudge the numbers to make them look better - but, like other blue cities - they simply refuse to prosecute criminals making the stats artificially lower than they are as well.
That is why, it could very well be the most violent city in America - and the Democrats main priority to deal with it - lie and hide it so it doesn't "look" as bad, and defund police to make it even worse.
This is what modern Democrats are about.

Keep this in mind. When Democrats do this to cities, they do it to the Federal Government too.

I don't care if they are eleven---- if these girls beat an elderly disabled man to death, I want them arrested and prosecuted as adults and sent to a federal penitentiary with the other adult female inmates. Hopefully, they are all MS-13 gang members.

Washington, D.C. has a significant number of unsolved murders, with over 70% of homicides in 2023 remaining unresolved, but it is not officially the city with the largest number of unsolved murders in the U.S. The clearance rate for homicides in D.C. has been declining, contributing to the growing number of cold cases.
The situation reflects broader issues of crime and law enforcement challenges faced by many urban areas.
