Precincts reporting: 2462 of 2599 (94.73%)
Total voting: 2,368,754
Candidates
for Senate . . Votes . . . Percentage
Webb(D) . . 1,173,755 . . 49.55%
Allen(R) . . . 1,166,409 . . 49.24%
As of 3:30 Pacific time (6:30 PM Eastern), Webb is leading Allen by 7,246 votes... but if precincts were all of equal size (I know, they aren't) this means there are more than 120,000 votes remaining to be counted. Don't ask me what their holdup is.
The Dem is still ahead, and it looks pretty grim. Frankly I think Webb will win this one.
But it ain't over till it's over. Dems must win this seat to gain control of the Senate. If Repubs win it, then there is a 50-50 tie. Tiebreaking vote is cast by the Vice President, a Republican.
