If it is uneven currently it is because there are many who do not want efficiencies in government. Government employment is large. A private corporation needs to be more efficient to survive. Government has a guaranteed chute of money from taxpayers. So, it is sloppy and wasteful.

They have always been notoriously slow. I don’t see anyone in much of a hurry at the DMV, for example, despite the line. Sure, if we add even more slow workers, people will get service quicker, but we could also get the current workers to speed up. Again, that is how it works in the real world. If you are too slow, your boss will likely ask you to speed up, not hire another slow worker. That would be kind of, well, stupid.

If customers/clients are waiting too long for something to get done while you are checking stocks or whatever, you will be told to do a better job or get fired. Those that think the government is any where near as efficient as the private sector are few and far between. You are in a huge minority.

Uh, guy, not sure what you are babbling about. Before Covid, I was in and out of the DMV in less than 10 minutes when I needed to get my license renewed. Of course, now it's a little slower because they have all these "Real ID" requirements.
