U.S. Postmaster General Louis DeJoy informed members of Congress on Thursday he has signed an agreement with the General Services Administration and Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency to right-size the Postal Service budget.

The Postal Service moved in January to cut 10,000 jobs cuts through an early retirement offer to eligible workers.

In a letter to Congress, DeJoy lamented that the Postal Service has a "broken business model that was not financially sustainable without critically necessary and core change."

WOW! How is it even possible for the post office to lose 200 billion (with a B) dollars?

What, are they including complementary hundred-dollar bills with every delivery?

Small wonder, the hubs look like the UN came by had an explosive bowel movement of workers.

they aint allowed to make a profit so any profit they make they have to spend......most outside PMG's usually quit after a few years because of this....lots of waste in the PO because of this.....if its a business let them run it like one...

PO has way way too many lousy middle management DEI hires
yes they do.....they are mostly people who couldnt cut it as carriers and clerks....many have so called jobs that dont do much and make a good wage to do nothing....there is were they should start.....management could easily lose 10,000 people and there would be no effect on its operations.........

Easy, just give nonprofits a 40 percent discount below 1st Class mail rates. Nonprofits then flood the system with mail that is delivered at a loss.

I receive over 100 letters and ads per month. Only a half dozen, my monthly bills, are necessary, the rest is junk mail or requests from charitable organizations. I contribute to some of them annually. However, many send me requests monthly and some, like "Wounded Warriors Foundation" sends me up to three or four requests each month.

If USPS raised the rates on nonprofits these organizations would reduce their mailings, and USPS would not need as many employees resulting in a better bottom line.

Many want off of these mailing lists but find it hard to get their names removed. These organization say that it is cheaper to continue sending them out than to update mailing list by removing these names.

We can put men on the moon, but we can't get their names off of these mailing lists. :(

Reducing nonprofit mail would greatly reduce overtime pay as well (time and a half up to ten hours, double time after that). I see my postman every day of the week (yup, Sundays as well).

Meanwhile my rural PO is assholes and elbows.....Other than the postmaster woman they have had near 600% turnover in the last five years due to overwork, mostly due to Amazon.

LOL....I asked her why she did not retire (she's my age) and she said she stays just out of spite. :laughing0301:

Reality is most Americans receive mail and they also realize that most that mail is bullshit junk. There’s no sympathy anymore for the post office. They need to take Denmark‘s example and put an to it. They are about as cost beneficial as the fucking penny now.

Just went to the mail box and found FIVE pieces of junk mail. No bills.

the non profits get around the name shit by putting currant resident in the address...and it wont affect OT that much ......you get time and a half after 8 hours if a carrier works over 10 hours the carrier supervisor usually gets a warning....

rural carriers are different than city carriers, they have their own rules and how they get their routes done...

There should be laws preventing junk mail. They outlawed plastic bags but junk mail is okay?
the bulk business mail is a billion dollar business and employs a hell of a lot of people....and in my experience if i didnt deliver certain types of junk mail....i heard about it from the people on the route...and were have they outlawed plastic bags?....

United States post office is delivering junk mail by and large because they have to or they’re broke. End of discussion you should not be employed. Oregon banned plastic bags years ago stop with your bullshit!

Plastic bags are banned but junk mail okay.
The government has no right to profit from junk mail sent to my home.
I have a right to determine what is sent to my home

But the government steals those rights

I have to pay taxes to the government which uses those taxes to deliver junk mail they profit from that I then have to pay to throw away.

Yet, plastic bags are bad? Irony. The government dictating what I can and can't have. Dictating how I must spend money.
