How about this one, from the great Dr?

“Every man must decide whether he will walk in the light of creative altruism or in the darkness of destructive selfishness.”
~Martin Luther King, Jr.

Betting you OWS types don't like to use that one alot, hunh?!
:eusa_shhh:
Do you think King would support OWS or Wall Street?

The "darkness of self-destruction" sounds like Goldman Sachs, to me.

Selfishness doesn't equal self-destruction

Quite the opposite, actually, but thanks for trying.

"A foundation in Germany has analyzed the social justice records of all 31 members of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), ranking each nation in such categories as health care, income inequality, pre-school education, and child poverty.

"The overall performance by the United States — which boasts of being an egalitarian society — outranks only Greece, Chile, Mexico, and Turkey.

"Actually, three of those countries performed better than ours in the education of pre-schoolers, and Greece did better than the United States on the prevention of poverty."

Another example of the economic and political inequality built into this system that won't change by "choosing" between Mitt and Mutt next November.

No. Not if they went against Non-Violent Civil Disobedience. He studied Locke.
Break the code, and it is a fail. You fail to respect Private Property, that is also a fail.

No. We the people are not the government. We created the government. But the government, once created, is not the people. If it were, we would have no need to worry about government oppressing the people. We can't oppress ourselves.

The only government that is the people is self government. One that most people neglect.
The people are the ultimate source of governmental authority and the policies of government leaders, assuming you believe in the basic democratic principle of popular sovereignty. When political equality is violated, that is, when some of the people use their private wealth to buy favors from their government's leaders, they can and do oppress those with fewer economic resources.

Being the ultimate source of the goverment's authority doesn't make you the government. And for the record the people are the ultimate source of government's authority even outside a Democracy. They may abdicate that responsibility to a totalitarian at times, but it doesnt change the fact that the totalitarian would not have power over anyone who did not consent to that power.

But that still doesn't mean that the people are the government. You've just provided a perfect example of how the government can be used to oppress the people. That's impossible if the government was the people.

No. The government is a separate entity created by the people, for the people to govern their affairs with justice and equity. When the government fails to do that it is the right and duty of the people to abolish and/or change that government. Hence, the Delcaration of Independence.

Selfishness guarantees self-destruction, although private wealth may project a contradictory illusion.

Working hard to provide for one's self and one's family doesn't make you selfish. In fact, I think those who do so are much more selfless than those who expect others to take care of them through government programs.

This is my "Brand" of Social Justice.
Feel free to point out any argument in favor of theft of private property.

"Social justice generally refers to the idea of creating a society or institution that is based on the principles of equality and solidarity, that understands and values human rights, and that recognizes the dignity of every human being."

Unlike the recent theft of private property carried out by millions of fraudulent foreclosures perpetrated by major Wall Street banks.

Btw, property rights don't trump human rights, at least among non-slave (holding) populations.

That's what every brand of social justice is. As I keep saying, when you put a qualifier in front of "justice," you get something other than justice. In other words, you get injustice.

It depends on what you mean by equality. Justice means equality before the law. Any other kind of equality is injustice if enforced by the state. "Solidarity" has nothing to do with justice. That's just cheap sloganeering.

So your definition is basically bullshit.

Unlike the recent theft of private property carried out by millions of fraudulent foreclosures perpetrated by major Wall Street banks.

Foreclosure isn't theft, nitwit. It's the process by which the owner regains control of his property.

Btw, property rights don't trump human rights, at least among non-slave (holding) populations.

Property rights are human rights. On the one hand, you call foreclosure - which has purely to do property rights = a violation of human rights, and then you claim property rights are not human rights.

You clearly don't even have a coherent conception of what a right is.

Actually, I would call that selfish, but there isn't the slightest thing wrong with it. Every time you put food in your mouth you are acting selfishly. You couldn't live more than a few minutes without acting selfishly.

Condemning self-interest is the ultimate idiocy.

Gosh what a surprise, an organization in a socialist european country ranks other countries by how far left they are and calls it "social justice." Meaningless horseshit.

You probably don't consider yourself a parasite either, but nevertheless you are.

Being born in the same country doesn't automatically make you my ally.

i guess that's the difference between liberalism and Conservatism. I DO care what happens to you. You wouldn't care if I fell off the face of the Earth.

You're right, I couldn't care less if you fell off the face of the Earth. In fact, I believe the world would be a better place without you in it. However, people only smirk at your claim that you care what happens to me.

Yet ironically, you claim the Gospel of Jesus Christ as your own.

Wrong. I'm an atheist.

I do care. but then again, I care what happens to welfare queens, drug addicts and even millionaires.

Atheist... not surprised.... in fact, I think most conservatives are but don't realize it... either that, or they worship something other than the Christian God... and don't realize it. Otherwise, they'd be standing up for our weakest instead of demonizing them.

BTW... enjoy wallowing in your hate. May you live a long, healthy life.

Maybe it's because they don't know. OR..... maybe it's because of the billion dollar Marketing Campaign from the wealthy to maintain the status quo? The world may never know.

No, it isn't the majority that is whacked in this case.
