US to withdraw from NATO?

The reality is that the US's funding and support often goes to places that have nothing to do with NATO, like Japan, Korea, the Pacific, Latin America etc.

NATO is about DEFENSE, and how much of the US's military would be available in any kind of defensive action? Whereas most European countries would be able to put 100% of their military towards NATO.

The US likes to take simple statistics to suggest they do more for NATO, but most threats come because of the US in the first place.

Don't kid yourself. Far left Western EU countries aren't going to stop their social spending to fund their military. Their populace will revolt. Taking away freebies never goes over well. Frankly, they aren't capable defending themselves.

Knowing that Russia's response would also be "bigly", after the EU guys wouldn't back us up against Iran, the terrorist state who attacked Turkey, or use our air bases in their countries?
Our attacking Iran was not to capture Iran, it was to stop their WMD programs and do a regime change.

It's my understanding at some of them wouldn't even let us use their airspace as well.

Nice to know you know nothing.

No, we have never been at war with Iran.

A weak, pathetic attempt to invent a justification after the fact.
Well, the right in the US have been at war with Iran for the last 25 at least, them and any other OPEC country that doesn't like the US.

The war on OPEC has seen the downfall of all of the leaders of those four countries in that time.

I cannot think of anything that Putin would like more than to see the US withdraw from NATO. Having achieved nothing but chaos with his vastly unpopular war in Iran, one we started, Trump is once again doing the bidding of his KBG master in the Kremlin.

The head of NATO will come begging on his knees.

I know plenty. It is rather obvious that they are incapable and unwilling to defend themselves. The US often saves them from themselves. Idealism gets in the way of them making prudent decisions.

Trump may announce an escalation and draft.
No announcement of a draft, but yes, he told the nation that he is going to spring the trap and wade deeper into the briar patch.

Yes, rather "obvious" for you.

For other people it looks a lot different. But you're the genius.

When has the US saved Europe? WW2? Before NATO even existed and the US wasn't particularly interested, until Japan bombed. And what "idealism" was involved in WW2 on the part of Western Europe?

I am talking about present day, but since you bring up WWII, France was toast without the US.

Present day example of idealism is the amount of money as a percent of GDP that these countries were contributing to their OWN defense prior to Trump putting the hammer down. They are idealistic and naive enough to believe that climate change is more of a threat to them than Russia. Trump had to warn Merckel not to be so dependent on Russian oil. She didn't listen and he imposed sanctions that slowed down the construction of Nordstream 2 to save Germany from being dependant on Russian oil. Dumb Biden removed the sanctions and what do you know, Russia attacks Ukraine as they no longer had to worry about their oil flowing through Ukraine to Russia. The pipeline was never used, but Germany quickly realized that going "green" so quickly and being fully reliant on Russian oil was a bad combination. In short, they had to learn the hard way.

You do realize it was PUTIN who got European countries to spend more, and not Trump, right?

But of course you have to make your own narrative where Trump does everything good, and everyone else the bad thing.

You also realize that when Putin attacked the Ukraine four years ago, he'd spent a long time building up his supply of money, right? This didn't just happen when Biden got into power. It was happening while Trump was in power, and Obama.

But you simplify everything to make Trump the best and everyone else bad.

It's ridiculous, but if it helps you wank at night....

Should have happened decades ago
