In Austria its very important how someone looks in my experience

If you dont look austrian or central european or a certain way you are foreign Ausländer no matter if you grew up here speak in dialect or even your grandparents were born here
You will receive comments

For me my brown non white look is what the average person notices always first and comments they would say i speak in dialect and act native but its my look that makes me very fremd foreign alien

Its since forever like this maybe its one of the reasons i started being interested in physical anthropology biology and genetics
