Almost everyone's aware of Alaska's Permanent Fund:

"...The program began in 1976 after the discovery of oil on Alaska’s North Slope.

"The then-governor, a renegade Republican named Jay Hammond, concluded that this windfall was too good to just give to the oil companies.

"So he devised the program to share the revenue with Alaska residents...."

"OK, here’s the idea for President-elect Biden:

"Bring 20 of the Trumpiest-looking Alaskans to a press conference.

"Unveil a plan whereby every man, woman, and child gets a $1,000 check every month from the government.

"Finance it with taxes on large wealth, fossil fuels, financial transactions, and intellectual property resulting from taxpayer-funded public research.

"Invite the Alaskans to describe the joy of getting their checks: no middleman, no means tests, no government forms to fill out—just free money as everyone’s share of the American commons.

"Dare Mitch McConnell to oppose it."

A Big, Simple, Winning Issue for Biden

The "American commons" are the cultural and natural resources accessible to all members of society. In a time when the privileged few expand their vast fortunes despite a global pandemic and recession, it seems fitting to socialize the profits and privatize the losses.

Does anyone believe "Delaware Joe" will turn on his corporate benefactors?
Universal income means no one works, and those who do are retarded.

How would 2 billion cell phones get created without creating billionaires in the process?
By worker-self-directed-enterprises which would turn every billionaire into 1000 millionaires.

Take Bezos as a prime example.
He's worth around $180 billion.
How many Amazon millionaires would be created with 90% of Bezo's net worth?
None would be created because Amazon wouldn't exist.

Only if right wingers want to be equally Poor instead of greedy and rich under our form of Capitalism.

There would be a 10 year waiting list, your cell phone would cost you $1000 a month for 100 minutes and your internet would use your TRS-80 and a 16K connection for an hour a day.
Your cable would have 3 channels for 12 hours a day. And they'd all be RT.
Less capitalism, more starvation......weird, eh comrade?

No, billionaires are created by us, the consumer. Do you think Bill Gates was always a billionaire? He made his first computer in his garage.
Bill was born into a family rich enough to give him access to ten thousands hours of computer programming instruction BEFORE he went to Harvard. He and Paul Allen used the politically constructed laws and institutions specifically designed by previous generations of US capitalists to acquire their billion$

Consider the size of Microsoft today.
Roughly 156,000 employees.
A one trillion$ market cap.
Bill Gates does a fraction of one percent of the daily work at Microsoft, yet he extorts a much larger proportion of the profits because of how rich capitalists constructed our current political economy.
He is a parasite on society.

And owns about 4% of the stock.

How much stock do you own?

yet he extorts a much larger proportion of the profits

his is what you're asking for. You gave all these rich people your money for Big Mac's, cell phones, Whoppers, gasoline, cable television, computers, internet, a printer, and now want that money back while keeping the product you now have that made them wealthy.

You don't see the unfairness of this?
Do you honestly believe we would have no Big Macs, cellphones, Whoppers, or gasoline without billionaires?

This is the unfairness I believe represents our biggest threat because of its malignant effect on democracy:

The 1 Percent Are Cheating Us Out of a Quarter-Trillion Dollars in Taxes Every Year

"'With the money that these tax cheats owe, this year alone, we could fund tuition-free college for all, eliminate child hunger, ensure clean drinking water for every American household, build half a million affordable housing units, provide masks to all, produce the protective gear and medical supplies our health workers need to combat this pandemic, and fully fund the U.S. Postal Service,' said Senator Bernie Sanders, who requested the CBO study. 'That is an absolute outrage, and this report should make us take a long, hard look at what our national priorities are all about.'"

So I'm more than happy to give the millionaires and billionaires my money. They make my life enjoyable, convenient and comfortable so I don't have to live like the Amish.
Hundreds of millions of workers/consumers make your comfortable life possible; the billionaires are less useful than the Amish in that regard.

Our side is the correct side and I'll tell you why: Our country is relatively new. We've only been around a few hundred years. Compared to societies that have been around for thousands of years, we became the worlds super power in that short time. We became the most successful, the wealthiest, the strongest in the entire world, and we didn't do that with socialism or communism. We did it with capitalism.
We did it with slavery and genocide, remember?
Your lifestyle and mine has stemmed, to a large degree, from the murder, maiming, and displacement of millions of innocent human beings over the last 75 years. Look at Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan, and Libya today. It is the US dollar's global reserve status that underpins our lifestyles, and it is the US military war crimes that backstop the US dollar. MAGA?

there is no other USA to move back to. There is only one, and that's us. Once this place is gone, it's gone forever. That's what we on the right are trying to prevent.
There is no other country on the planet capable of replacing the US that isn't an authoritarian nightmare; Russia and China are probably the only two contenders. That doesn't mean the billionaires and their political hacks aren't taking the US down that same road. You might be happy celebrating American Exceptionalism, but I see it more and more as a threat to all humanity.
