We've heard of stories of homeless in cities living underground in the sewer tunnels, and some refer to these unfortunates as the 'moles' of civilization.
Well, the modern city has become so unbearable (to many) that living underground almost sounds fortunate.
Would it be that surprising if we found out nuclear war fallout shelters were being built underground (e.g., in NYC sewers) by the government and/or civilians?
Maybe there's a whole Neanderthal-descendent species living somewhere on Earth underground.
How much do we terrestrial Earthlings actually value living above-ground?
