UNITED NATIONS (AP) — The United Nations put Russian forces on its annual blacklist of countries that violate children’s rights in conflict for killing boys and girls and attacking schools and hospitals in Ukraine, according to a new report seen Thursday by The Associated Press.

Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said in the report to the Security Council that he is “appalled” by the high number of “grave violations” against children in Ukraine in 2022, “shocked” at the number of attacks on schools and hospitals, “concerned” by the detention of children, and “troubled” that some Ukrainian children have been transferred to Russia.

Everybody hates Putin's Russia.

Republicans?

So because some UN troops fucked up in Haiti, Russia should, in your view, get a pass on atrocities against civilians? Russian crimes against civilians weren't just the result of some soldiers misbehaving, they were, from the bombings of schools, hospitals and residences, the result of Russian policy, and Putin gave Russian Troops permission to commit crimes against Ukrainian civilians when he withdrew Russia for the Geneva Conventions protection of civilians in 2019.

The UN has done this shit in other countries and what part of my post excuses Russia ? The UN does not have a leg to stand on when it accuses countries of atrocities.

In fact, the UN has not done the "same shit" as bombing schools, hospitals and residences as a matter of policy, not has it abducted children and forcibly transported them to another country and given them to another family.

From your link:

While the UN can investigate allegations of sexual abuse and rape, peacekeeper accountability is up to the country that sends the troops. As a result, prosecutions have been rare even after media coverage and outrage.

In recent years, the UN has stepped up its efforts to tackle the issue and push on the troop contributing countries. In 2015, the UN began publishing the nationalities of soldiers alleged to have sexually exploited and abused women and girls. It also established a trust fund and programs for psychological care, job training and other services for victims, including children fathered by peacekeepers. In 2017, the UN established a global “Victim Rights Advocate” and embedded victim advocates within peacekeeping missions. Annual reports and logged case updates are publicly available.

In contrast, Putin merely withdrew from the protocol for the protection of civilians when there were complaints about Russian atrocities.

Why bring up the US's failures if not to defend Russia's atrocities?

Actually, you are defending Russia by trying to equate the actions of the US and Russia, ignoring the fact that the UN cannot discipline UN troops, only the country providing them can, and by ignoring the fact that the UN has taken action to shame the countries that don't discipline troops that commit crimes and by ignoring the fact that Russian abuses of human rights are allowed by the Russian government. Were you smarter and had you read your own link, you would have realized there is no UN hypocrisy in this case.
