I just suggested to play a little scenario:
A Chinese captain see a large US cruise ship and say: "I'm sure, that on a ship that big and rich are a lot of evil drug addicts and drug traffickers. Let's kill them all!" If mere suspicions are enough to sink an unarmed ship - Chinamen or Russians might be pretty persuasive.
