U.S. sets single-day record for COVID-19 cases during new surge

The flu is spreading OMG! #mockingsarcasm
And you would rather ignore it and drop mitigation efforts because you think you can outwit a pandemic by machismo and 'Murican Freedom.

While you morons are fanning the faux fear Covid claims, leading causes of death are skyrocketing during the shutdown reversing early detection and treatment killing way more people you blithering idiot.

How can you face yourself?
How many cases of ACTUAL Kung Flu deaths are not spoken of, but all those who were dying of cancer or lung disease, and died because they couldnt get help because hospitals were closed? Yeah, they even count people driving their cars into trees and dying, kung flu related...
What manner of leadership, of parenting, of attitude does it take to create someone who can be so cynical about a pandemic?

Society is doomed because your ilk walks the earth.

I thank God I'm old and won't have to endure the world you
This is a damn virus that was released from a CHINESE lab in Wuhan. When released they closed down internal travel but allowed foreign travel to continue. China Seeded the world with this virus.

Trump acted within days of the first case identified in the US and closed down travel to and from china except for US citizens and authorized migration statuses. Those people we screened and isolated for 14 days on arrival.

Trump did everything short of placing the whole US in lockdown to save lives. Trump unleashed the productivity of the US machine for getting cures, medications, equipment, ppe and therapeutics which we now have and are supplying the world with just 7 months into a pandemic.

Now we are in the trajectory of doing everything right and your complaining about the deaths that can not be stopped.

You voted for a cluster fuck by the name of Joe Biden who did everything wrong on H1N1 and had it been nearly as deadly would have resulted in 5.6 million deaths.

You need to pull your head from your ass and come out into the real world..

One can only imagine how many of these new cases are the results of Trump's super-spreader events given for his flock.

He doesn't care. He is a sociopath, willing to sacrifice the health of his conned sheep for his own aggrandizement.

And his conned sheep are complicit, willing to sacrifice the health of those around them for their warped ideology.

Who gives fuck.

Given the recovery rate, you'd be fine

So this is the corner we’ve turned that Trump described? Head in the sand leadership fails every time.

Cases were low intially, but deaths went into orbit.

Since that time, in the u.s., cases have gone up but deaths have been steady or declining.
Deaths follow cases. They’ve flatlined from the fall and are turning up with cases as a lagging indicator. You honestly see the wisdom in promoting safety guidelines and testing protocols until a vaccine is developed. Congregating in super spreader events is dumb and unnecessary and poor leadership. Trump should be electrocuted as a murderer.

And you should be put down for being a huge waste of oxygen.

Here are sweden's daily cases and daily deaths. Two big upticks in cases while deaths continued a stead fall.

You might go back to the fuckwads who gave you your bullshit talking points and ask them not to expose you as a fool so readily.

And daily deaths....

Well, ShittyGator (citygator )

You going to explain why this doesn't follow your talking point.

You've dodged it for five pages.

Fucking liar.

Am I the only person tired of hearing the same old personal insults and partisan attacks? The OP-linked CBC article itself seemed quite objective and informative. Among other things it reported:

On Thursday there were 916 reported fatalities in the United States, a day after the country recorded over 1,200 new deaths for the first time since August.

“Eighteen states have reported their highest daily numbers of hospitalized COVID-19 patients since the pandemic started and on Friday the number of COVID-19 patients in U.S. hospitals climbed to a two-month high.

“There are now more than 41,000 hospitalized patients with coronavirus across the country, up 34 per cent from Oct. 1, according to a Reuters analysis.“

We are entering the cold weather and everyone should take care, use masks when indoors as appropriate, maintain social distancing, avoid crowds, etc. This can slow the spread and save lives.
The use of masks when indoors as appropriate, maintaining social distancing, avoiding crowds, and other necessary precautions are perceived by Trump supporters as causing a recession likely to render Trump a one-term president, hence the personal insults and partisan attacks.

Consequently the OP-linked CBC article is perceived by Trump supporters and others on the right as partisan and subjective – that “the number of COVID-19 patients in U.S. hospitals climbed to a two-month high” is further evidence of Trump’s failure to address the pandemic, exposing as a lie Trump’s ridiculous claim that we are ‘turning the corner’ on the pandemic.

And no, you’re not the only person tired of hearing the same old personal insults and partisan attacks – but when confronted with facts and the truth conservatives don’t like, personal insults and partisan attacks are all they have to resort to.

86% of those who contracted COVID 19 in the month of July wore masks all the time or most of the time.... The FACTS do not support your hyperbole.

The cloth and simple cotton masks most Americans wear (when they wear them) primarily limit active transmission. But you know that already. N95 masks are used to prevent inhalation of contaminated air as well, which is why they are so widely used in Asia and among medical personel everywhere. Covid-19 transmission can be stopped and has been stopped in China (and Taiwan and South Korea) through mask wearing, distancing and strict tracking and contacting, quarantining, etc — without months of “total lockdowns.”

The U.S. (and European) failure to control the virus and the associated drawn out economic pain does NOT so much flow from Trump’s inconsistent and divisive actions as it does from the very nature of the West’s weak and uncentralized political power, lack of social cohesion & willingness to sacrifice.

Nobody expects or wants Americans to act like Chinese, and the Covid-19 virus certainly should not be exaggerated — it will be defeated one way or another. Americans need not go crazy over this virus, blaming each other, the “enemy party” or the Chinese. But we should have done better, should acknowledge facts of the pandemics continuation, and can certainly criticize Trump for his poor leadership and Democrats for claiming they would have managed the pandemic dramatically better.

Democrats act as if Nature can not and will not ever throw another virus at the world.

Rather than work to help the world economically survive, they work to end civilization and the worlds economies.

Which those Democrat knee jerk policies would kill FAR FAR more people than the viruses themselves.

It really does require a special kind of Stupid to think like Democrats.

Trump did everything he could with the information and advice he was given. Its hard to make informed decisions when the Chinese were obfuscating and the WHO was helping them. Trump invoked the defense production act to get ventilators and Personal Protective Equipment to our medical personnel. Trump created partnerships with testing companies to get the best testing in the world in a very short time. Obama-Biden left us depleted and unprepared for this pandemic.

Europe's response was to lock down. All that did was slow the spread and now they have a second wave of infections because they didn't allow their people to get out and get this virus during the summer when it was attenuated and less sever. Now they will pay dearly for this mistake.

The Asian countries are socialist and top down control. We do not know what their real numbers are and there is massive conjecture to how they count things.

At this point in the disease progression we are statistically where we should be for deaths if we had done everything we could the best we could. Original estimates were 2.2-2.5 million deaths if we did nothing and 350,000-400,000 deaths if we did everything we could right. Were at 225,000 deaths currently and a vaccine is two months out at the latest. It is highly possible we will see another 100,000 deaths in the US before we get a good handle on this virus.

I dont like to be so matter of factually centered and seen as heartless but these are the cold hard facts and no mask is going to stop the spread of this virus. Giving people a placebo might give them hope for a while but they will soon see through the deception and then you have bigger problems. Even the CDC admits that 86% of those who contracted COVID-19 in July wore masks all of the time or most of the time. False hope and false security is a lie!

Its time to wake up and smell the coffee... Manage the risk and get on with life...

Comment #130’s “News Flash” is useless as the article sighted contains only an allegation about a report that was rejected, no quotes from the report whatever. Also, masks are a complicated question as there are all sort of masks (see comment #127) used in different places.

Of course it was rejected.

As the article says.....it doesn't align with the religion of the mask nazi's.

Pray tell, with eveyone having their faces wrapped, why are we having a spike in cases ?

Too funny:

You dont use the "quote" function to spout BS so I can not see it....

Your "reports" have no quantified baseline for the reporting. They count deaths from cardiac problems and COVID infection as deaths due to cardiac problems... Here in the US we count every death as a COVID death if they tested positive for it even if it is NOT the cause of the death.

IT is this kind of crap your basing your assessment on. Comparing apples and watermelons...

Your masks is another straw man... The COVID virus is 0.01 microns in size. An N-95 mask filters 1.5-5 micron in size particles. They will not stop aerosolized/dry virus. This is akin to using chain link fence as a screen for mosquitoes or using a screen door on a submarine to keep the water out. And cloth face coverings are a no go as they stop absolutely NOTHING but massive droplets.

You need to wake up and come back to reality. There is a reason that 86% of those infected were wearing masks and it did not help them.

As I’ve written, the wearing of simple cotton/cloth masks is only a tiny part of the measures taken successfully in places like South Korea. There mobile phones have apps which automatically allow for tracking and tracing, notifying, etc., plus — for the hundredth time — there are different types of masks, and no mask works when it isn’t being worn.

Personally, I have serious asthma and lifelong coughing problem which makes masks particularly difficult to wear, and I do not wear them outside except when truly necessary.

That, in no way, makes them successful.

I have CHF (Congestive Heart Failure) and masks cause my blood O2 saturation to drop unacceptably low so I cannot wear them except for short duration's.

I am keenly aware of their short comings and limitations. That last CDC report data kills the mask mandate meme dead.. I use an N-95 mask for no more than 5 minuets at a time and then only if I am indoors and can not distance (12 Feet). I manage this but I understand that it is not fully protective.
