sep 16 2023 More than 100 Texas educators are now facing the end of their teaching careers after posting vile, hateful, and violent content celebrating the assassination of conservative leader Charlie Kirk.

Governor Greg Abbott announced on Sunday that the Texas Education Agency (TEA) has begun investigations into teachers who cheered Kirk’s murder and even incited additional violence online.
Abbott confirmed that these educators will not only have their teaching certifications suspended but will also be permanently barred from working in Texas public schools.

In a strongly worded letter to superintendents, TEA Commissioner Mike Morath condemned the educators’ despicable behavior, noting that such conduct may constitute violations of the Educators’ Code of Ethics

I repeat over and over though that this is a slippery slope. We cannot suppress free speech on opinion, thought or belief.

Another point I would like to make is that when did it become acceptable for teachers and profs to weigh in on politics?

I recall in university that a professor came into the room and broke the news to the room that OJ Simpson was declared not guilty and some cheered, he said "he was framed". I recall a girl looking at me as I was not cheering and I wanted to speak up and say "you should not be imparting your political views".

No one knew for sure at that time if he was guilty or not and it was an emotional case, a racist cop destroyed LAPDs case. I never understood him taking off in his pickup, two people were dead and a prof was weighing in.

My opinion remains that teachers need to be objective and promote facts, not influence kids politically for ANY ideology.

Considering the fact that the murder took place on the property of a school, you would think that any teacher who wasn't a fan of him would at least have some restraint where their feelings are concerned. Instead, they are only making the rest of us be fully aware of how far their brain trains truly don't travel.

George Floyd gets killed and riots go on for months. 30 people are murdered. Over a billion dollars of damage is done. Hundreds are seriously injured. That is the Left.
