Two Dozen Republicans Call Out Trump

Trump is accused of dereliction of duty for his role in the efforts to overturn the 2020 election results on Jan. 6, 2021.

"Two dozen Republicans are among 66 former members of Congress who've signed a brief urging a federal judge to reject Donald Trump's efforts to block a House committee from accessing the former president's White House records."

"Senate Minority Leader McConnell explained, the efforts to overturn the election were not the official acts of a President; they were 'a disgraceful dereliction of duty,'" the brief states. "The executive privilege does not apply, thus ending the inquiry and dooming the motion presently before the Court."

Excerpt:

Politico reported Thursday night that the brief "contends that no possible argument about executive privilege could overcome Congress' need for documents to probe the violent attack on the Capitol — one fueled by Trump's false claim that the 2020 election was stolen."

"From what is publicly known, it is clear that Donald Trump played an outsized — and likely central — role in orchestrating the events that gave rise to the January 6th attack," states the brief, which was expected to be filed Friday. "And many, and perhaps most, of the various means he used or contemplated are documented in the records the Committee seeks and are still not known."
The brief, filed under the umbrella of Protect Democracy, further alleges that "Trump's ability to assert executive privilege is limited to acts he took in his official capacity as president — not in service of his reelection or private campaign-related business," according to Politico.

I wonder if Trump realizes how close he is to being exposed? Since he has spooked off or fired every talented lawyer in the country, he may not have anyone around him telling him what is really happening. He might be completely encapsulated in a fantasy bubble.

It had far more integrity under Trump. Kicking those two faced RINO out of the party is the ultimate in integrity.
At the very least, you have to admit the trump party has very little resemblance to the republican party before trump. One major change is the complete disregard for any claims of morality AT (after trump)

Apparently you're admitting that the Dim party never had any "claims to morality."

For those currently serving in Congress, odds are they won't be running for reelection. Trump is purging all those disloyal to him, by proxy. Kinzinger announced today he won't be running for another term.

The cult wins.
Kinzinger was termed out of office by democrats that redrew districts that thanked Kinzinger for his
anti Trump efforts by leaving him nowhere to go.

Democrats....even when you aid them they don't want you around.

No. I'm saying any claims of morality by what was once the republican party are now null and void since your transition to the trump party.

Right. You're admitting that the Dim party never had any "claims to morality."

That's correct. "Trumpsters". "Trumpism".

It's not about him. It never was. He's not the problem.

I've said that many, many times.

He may not be the main problem but he sure is part of it.

If there had not been a trump campaign and presidency, the crazy people would have stayed under their rocks and the republican party wouldn't be what it has become.

Yes, they still would be here in our nation but they never would have become what they are today and they never would have changed the republican party into what it is today.

So yes, trump sure is part of the problem and without him, the republican party wouldn't be what it is today.

Well, he was certainly the flash point that ignited all the pent-up anger and frustration and rage that had building on the Right for three decades, fed and nurtured by talk radio and then the internet.

But no one person can do this. They can be the face of it, but they can't do anything without people supporting them and enabling them. Look at all the enablers he's had. It's been that way throughout history.

I think handing out free money to other countrie's people ahead of citizens of this country using their own money is just hunky dory for a demofk loser.

The main supporters and enablers are the cultists. Trump is not a smart or skillful man.

What has happened here is that the cult has created an avatar. That avatar is the orange pile. They have created this avatar as the champion for their frustrations and anger and have given it power over themselves. Much like inventing a God.

Trump came along and was willing to do and say the most ignorant, classless, unethical stuff. And the fact that this annoyed the entire world -- but he got away with it anyway -- was like Moses seeing a vision of God, to these people.

So they nurtured and fed their avatar and now live in a symbiotic existence with a character that is really of their own creation. They need Trump every bit as much as a 4 year old needs his woobie. He is their security blanket. The embodiment of all of their anger and frustration and ignorance and stupidity, existing for the reason of sticking a thumb in the eye of people the angry cultists can't reach.
