If he is incapable of avoiding the worm on the hook he needs to shut it off.

He doesn't need to win over his fanclub, he needs to win over fence sitters. If fence sitters were impressed by his ability to act like a teenage girl on Twitter they wouldn't be fence sitters anymore.
