The DoJ knew but since Biden respects the way the government is supposed to function, the DoJ doesn’t ask politicians for permission to do their job. They need to maintain independence from politicians.

The DOJ would absolutely be expected to notify the sitting President of a raid on a former President as well as the presumed nominee and opponent in the next presidential election. The current DOJ has not operated independent of politicians since Biden was elected.

The POTUS does not run the FBI or the DOJ.

How do you people make it to adulthood with so little knowledge of how the government works?

The FBI is part of the executive branch. The head of the executive branch is the President.

The FBI Director is appointed by the President, with the consent of the Senate. The FBI Director reports directly to the Attorney General, but serves at the pleasure of the President, which means he can be legally fired by the President for any reason or no reason at all.
