Being entirely transactional, he doesn't understand that other world leaders see a bigger picture and carefully maintain their relationships. So he just assumes that he can stab you in the back one moment and expect a hearty handshake the next.

This is also obvious in the way he treats other Americans, particularly American politicians. This must have been the way he "did business" (in between the bankruptcies), and he doesn't understand that this behavior does not translate on the world stage. Other world leaders have to have at lease some degree of trust in your character.

Denmark is a founding member of NATO and there have always been NATO bases in Greenland. Owning Greenland would not increase our national security.
