Trump to send Hospital Ship to Greenland

My point is there is a need for a hospital ship dummy.... maybe this will push Denmark to provide one... and I've been to Alaska.... everyone has a plane and can fly to any city in the state...
Why a hospital ship?

Why not send more doctors and set up fully staffed hospital clinics and enhance medical capabilities in Nuuk?

What exactly do you people think the Danish government should do?

Build a multibillion dollar level one hospital in a place with as people as a small American town?

You don’t get to live in places like Greenland or the Yukon or northern Alaska and expect a huge hospital full of specialists to be a car drive away.

There are polyclinics for primary care and stabilizing emergent situations until they can be evacuated to a larger more populated area.

That’s how it works

That’s how it is it’ll always work

If Greenland needs foreign hospital ships due to this than so does the USA, Canada, etc

Again, by your logic, why doesn’t Sweden or something send a rescue hospital ship off the coast of Alaska to save all the Americans there who have to fly to anchorage for advanced care?
I doubt the Swedes would appreciate that very much. under their socialist system, if a person needs specialist care, their primary doctor has ninety days to give them a referral, and then once they see the specialist ninety days to provide the treatment. A one hundred and eighty day wait time for a country reputed to have one of the best.Socialist health care systems in the world.

If I were a Swede I would say park that d*** ship off the coast of Sweden.

But suppose they did say send a ship to the north of Alaska to help the native peoples. Why would I complain about that? I would have an attitude of gratitude.

I would also say "hold on! If Sweden has enough medical capacity that they can come and help Americans as well let's take a look at what they're doing differently. Maybe we can learn from them."

We certainly could have learned from Sweden by watching what they did during covid.

I would also say "it's good to see our new NATO ally conducting the medical equivalent of a live fire exercise."
It’s an inevitable reality of living in these places that you may have to travel long distances for advanced care

Period
Yes, they will have to travel long distances. that does not mean they have to wait on long waiting lists.

Wait lists come from the many pitfalls of socialism, not from natural factors like distances.
Greenland doesn’t “need” foreign military hospital ships any more than Alaska or the Northwest Territories in Canada do…..

Just admit it’s all political
The opposition is all political of course.

That is the difference between the left on here and me. If a future president harris or president acacio cortez were to do the same, I would not whine about it.

My point is that it’s no more necessary than Japan sending a hospital ship to remote Australia coast or the UK sending one to Guam

Send a ship to Haiti or
Something

That's the difference between Democratic Socialism and a relatively free economy. A free economy provides for needs very well without even trying. Socialism tries to provide for needs and fails miserably.

Trump has declared medical care in Greenland is inadequate and will deploy a hospital ship to Greenland

Greenland population of 60,000 is very disbursed and its largest city Nuuk has a population of 20,000
Hard to see a hospital ship get many patients.

Given the unpopularity of the US at this time, it is hard to see it be used much.

Lol. And now there will be a ship anchored near Greenland doing feck all. Greenland is 9 times larger than the UK and Scarborough has a larger population. Amazing how Trump can swing doing good things to dumb things. This is a dumb thing, but it's based on yanks believing they're brilliant on healthcare, it figures. How depressing.

So why do people in Denmark have demonstratively better health outcomes ?

So just let the Greenlanders die on waitlists because helping them might possibly reflect well on Trump?

First of all that is horribly amoral.

Second of all, i'm sure if donald trump saved a thousand Greenlanders with this hospital ship, the mainstream media would figure out a way to spin it as another example of his evil.

They would find some Inuit cutie to claim that "donald trump walked in on my gynecological exam, pulled up a stool and said, 'This is one part of Greenland i've been waiting to look into.'"

I posted a link that says they do need it so you find one that says they do not...

Greenland is currently experiencing a significant backlog in its healthcare system, with estimated needs of about one billion kroner ($158 million) for improvements. While officials maintain that a full crisis does not exist and have rejected foreign aid, the system requires long-term capacity building and improved local services.
Greenland faces a significant shortage of healthcare staff, particularly in remote villages, creating a "significant backlog" in its health system. While the country has a universal, publicly funded system, it suffers from a, High North Newsdoctor-to-patient ratio three times lower than Denmark, resulting in high workloads, reliance on locum (temporary) doctors, and, National Institutes of Health (NIH) | (.gov)
From 15 YEARS ago?

The towns and villages of Greenland are separated by great distances, and transport between them can only take place by plane, helicopter or boat. If you are moving to a peripheral region, it is therefore wise to check whether the healthcare service level available there matches your physical condition. Besides the problems of expensive patient transports and long distances, the Greenlandic health service is also challenged by a shortage of staff, particularly in the most sparsely-populated areas.

The slowest being a boat.

Ok

A) Greenlanders aren’t “dying on waitlists” anymore than any other similarly isolated territory of a developed nation

B) Greenland has like 50k people total, so trumps medical ship “saving a thousand Greenlanders’ lives” is pretty much a statistical impossibility.

C) “hospital ships” like this are not literal hospitals with the same resources an actual hospital in New York or Copenhagen would have. They’re floating emergency rooms that travel to third world countries or developed countries hit by disaster that don’t have access to urgent care

Greenland already has those basic resources that the ship provides. No Greenlander is going to have their cancer treatment managed by some ER doc on a floating medical ship. They’re still going to have to go to Denmark for any treatments beyond that scope

Only Trump can use a hospital ship as an act of aggression.

You will get this ship whether you want it or not
Only the trump deranged could see offering treatment or hospital ship as an act of aggression.

By treaty, the united states has all but unlimited access to Greenland for its military. that was negotiated long before Trump.

No Greenlander will be rounded up and forced to go to this hospital ship. It is there as an option for them to take or leave.

Rounding the native Geenlanders up is something that was done by their Danish Colonizers. The same danes, who now do not want them to have this hospital ship.

Trump lied .....AGAIN and his gullible cult believed him.......AGAIN

32 minutes ago — ... hospital ships are undergoing maintenance at a shipyard in Alabama. The announcement prompted a defense of Greenland's health care system.

Trump claims US hospital ship already headed to Greenland

“It’s on the way!!!” Trump wrote in his Truth Social post, saying one of the hospital ships already was headed to Greenland.

THE FACTS: The USNS Mercy and USNS Comfort are at a shipyard in Mobile, Alabama, according to social media posts from the shipyard showing the pair of white hospital ships alongside each other in late January. Publicly available ship tracking data show both ships are still in the shipyard.

The Comfort arrived at the shipyard in the southern state on Jan. 23 and is expected to remain there through April, according to the government contract for the work.

Repairs to the Mercy, which arrived there in August, have run past their expected completion date. Government contract records show the ship is slated for more repairs in March in a shipyard in the northwest state of Oregon.

Denmark is probably better than most developed nations, when it comes to waitlists to see soecialists. but people still spend up to one hundred and eighty days waiting for that to happen.

But not better than the united states. our Alaskan natives may die because they have a heart attack and cannot make it to a medical care facility quick enough. But that is true in urban areas in the lower forty eight also. And everywhere in the world.

Native Greenlanders specifically do not have defibrillators in their villages. If you claim that never leads to deaths, you'll have to show some evidence for that counter-intuitive claim.

Native Alaskans do not die because they are put on long waiting lists to see an oncologist after their primary care, physician suspects cancer.

Thank you for fact checking my hypothetical.

If Donald Trump's hospital ship saves one hundred greenlanders, i'm sure the trump deranged will figure out a way to spend as a negative for Donald Trump.

Not true for the Navy's two hospital ships. if you are interested in knowing facts instead of guessing, feel free too.Google, "what facilities are on a us navy hospital ship?"

Perhaps not treatment, but they could get a cancer diagnosis there. In your research, you will learn that these hospital ships have radiology and a laboratory.

If Denmark's socialist system then denies them treatment because they do not wait the required one hundred and eighty days, like every other Greenlander, the United States can look at what humanitarian action to take then.

So can the voters of Greenland.

I'm amazed at the rhetorical gymnastics just to avoid the possibility that trump might get credit for something good.

A ship of the coast of Greenland won’t help remote defibrillator-free villages in any way shape or form

ok, but it won’t, so moot hypothetical there

whatever facilities exist in Nuuk, they undoubtedly have a radiology department and a laboratory.

so now we’re just talking about socialized medicine in general? Does England need a US navy medical ship off their coast?

The US health system has at least as many problems as the Danish one. If Denmark sent a medical ship to our coast to “save” Americans I’m 100% sure the response would be a confused “thanks but no thanks”

You see, it kinda works like this

When performing a compassionate act, you don’t insult the person receiving it.

Rather than make an offer and seeing whether Greenland is interested, Trump declared Greenland to suffer from medical care inadequacies and that his ship was on the way to fix it

Yeah, I think many Americans would be offended (or at least confused) if Denmark parked a hospital ship off the coast of the USA because they said we needed saving due to our medical system

We’d see it for the clumsy political
Maneuverer that it was

No, but that is an example of how poor the medical service provided by denmark, to the native greenlanders, is.

How do you know it won't diagnose one hundred people with cancer and time to save their lives?
whatever facilities exist in Nuuk, they undoubtedly have a radiology department and a laboratory.
Of course. It's not the facilities, it is the wait list.

Probably so, but why not help our American neighbors first?

if anyone were keeping score, I'd say in the twentieth century, the United States gave England a buttload of aid.

Why would it be?

You do realize that the intent is not for any Greenlander to be forced to go onto this hospital ship. It is to be there as an option.

If not a single green lander as to be taken to the ship, then trump will be left with egg on his face, won't he? Somehow, I don't think that's what you're concerned about, though.

As much as the left keeps saying, how much better the medical care is in socialized countries.I'm surprised they have not already asked denmark to send a medical ship.

If they ever do, the trump deranged are welcome to go get treatment. Why would I care? You made me think that people who support socialized medicine really just like to get in other people's business.

Better yet ask Cuba, which is much closer, to send a hospital ship to the coast of Florida. i'm sure the Cuban americans who came to this country as refugees would just loooove to have another chance at socialized medicine.

Why would a ship even be necessary?
They are meant to provide hospital facilities in a war zone……Greenland is not a war zone
Ships are a temporary fix, not a long term healthcare solution

Additional doctors and treatment capabilities can be provided to the hospital in Nuuk
More doctors and medical capabilities can be provided in remote areas

No one claimed it was a long term fix. it seems some Greenlanders reached out to the Trump administration about their inability to get health care on a timely manner and the Trump administration is responding with compassion.

I don't think you realize how much you give away the game when you sit and complain about that.

And . . . Denmark we'll get right on that? any day now?

Actually, maybe they will. If this move by trump shames them into it. Please tell us how that would be a bad thing?

Or did you mean that the trump administration should provide doctors and treatment capabilities to the Greenlanders? instead of a hospital ship?

If so I might agree with that. why don't you write to the white house with that recommendation? My guess is that they will send the hospital ship for the greenlanders who are probably desperate by now after months on the wait lis. but plusing up their hospitals and medical staff is probably a better long term solution.

If you do not want to send that in, tell me and I will.
