Trump to end LGBTQ crisis hotline… why?

I understand debate about trans in sports and locker rooms etc. but why in the world would anybody end a crisis hotline that receives over 2000 calls a day? These are youth who are suicidal and in crisis reaching out for help. And there’s no plan or effort to replace the assistance with anything.

Play your political games all you want but cutting off a lifeline to people in need of help is just cruel.

Does anybody want to try and justify this?

Homosexuals need special counselors

One size does not fit all

The government is involved in many areas that help the general welfare of our people and not every area has a cabinet level position to justify the effort.

Many gay people deal with the same mental health issues as straight people. But many also deal with issues that are directly involved with being LGBTQ. Anxiety about coming out. Being rejected by family because of being gay, hate and bigotry, etc etc etc.

Similar situation with vets where many deal with PTSD and effects of being to war. These things warrant special training and handling to better provide support.

Taking away the extension to LgBtQ is just cruel and unjustified. Petty and political

There has always been a high rate of suicide in the LGBTQ community. I’d hope everybody despite their political or religious views would see the humanity of the situation and support efforts to provide mental health help. But I guess Trump and his followers are moving against that. That’s what’s pathetic
