Ok, if some nutbag calls up claiming to be one of the 130+ genders San Fransicko claims there are the counselor could explain to the nutbag there are only two sexes as determined by chromosomes. Don't bother retorting about the .00001% that have both.

This would start the healing process of the mentally disturbed caller by using actual science and facts.

But hes not removing the service, its still there, but rather than having a special hotline for lgbtq, its just under the normal call in. Their website says they will still get the same service.

If you are trying to convince the caller that the LGBTQ+ community sold them a bill of goods, and the ideology isn't worth committing suicide and dying for, it would be an important point I would think

The pathetic part was cutting a mental health support program because they saw it as sympathetic to people who identify as something other than the two sexes the admin wants everybody to identify as.

They took no steps to improve it, better the training, provide outreach…. Just a cut. That’s what’s pathetic

I mean, im not sure what the hotline was saying, but according to the OMB statement, it was trying to encourage children to embrace a lifestyle, but without the consent (and likely knowledge) of the parents?

Give an example. Somebody calls and is in crisis, they are suicidal because they are being bullied and nobody understands the fact they can’t identify as the traditional male or female roll. How would you handle it in a way that isn’t going to increase the odds of them pulling the trigger ?

Sounds like a weak talking point but let’s say it’s true… then engage and train your operators on a better way to lend support. Don’t just cut it off. It was receiving significant engagement, over 2k hits a day. No what kind of message is being sent?

The point of dealing with people in crisis is to deescalate and then get them into a program for help. It’s not easy to reach out for help. Many people did who were struggling with LGBtQ related issues. Trump is making moves to hinder the efforts to support those people. No plan for anything to positively help. Just cut: It’s sick

They don’t want lectures to be tough and stop complaining
They want to be told their problems are real and others have them too
