Trump to eliminate Department of Education…note to fake anarchists…this is a good thing,

Whether the Department of Education is a "good idea" or not, is irrelevant. Whether it's doing a good job or not is irrelevant. Whether it employs thousands of wonderful people or not is irrelevant.

The Federal government is a government of limited powers - limited by the Constitution itself. If the Constitution does not set forth a "power" for the Feds, then it is "...reserved to the States, respectively, and the people."

In the Leftist orgy of Federal programs, spending, and initiatives, this basic government structure has been lost in the fog.

It might be a good idea for the Feds to take over all incarceration in the country - take it away from the states, countries, and cities, so that it can be better and more consistently managed. BUT WE CAN'T DO IT because the Tenth Amendment of the Constitution forbids it.

"Good idea" is not sufficient.

Every gop administration says the same thing. It ain't been shut down yet or even defunded.

The thing is to go for gutting it instead of replacing it. All it does is set minimum ACADEMIC standards, and that's it.

No more pass through funding, no more studies, no more morality rulemaking.

Can Trump actually get rid of the department?

While not impossible, Trump's political pathway to abolishing the Department of Education is narrow.

  • Eliminating the department would require congressional action, likely including a supermajority of 60 votes in the Senate, the Washington Post reported.
  • Despite their 53-47 Senate majority, Republicans are unlikely to muster up the votes to circumvent the filibuster.
  • A House vote last year on an amendment eliminating the department failed after 60 Republicans joined Democrats opposing it, per the Post.

Every time Dems and RINOs stop Trump from doing something, he should advertise it to everyone, and say that's why he needs more of the RIGHT republicans during the 2026 midterms.

School curriculum will GO BACK TO THE STATES.

CALI CAN TEACH THEIR KIDS THAT MEN CAN HAVE BABIES.

Florida will teach how to write and read and do math and science.

I love this. The Dep of Education is useless bureaucracy. Fuck Carter for creating it.

They were discussing it on a pod from a news article.

I didnt know you guys cannot google. Sorry about the confusion and misunderstanding. Good luck in future endeavors.
I would hope that a small part of the Dept of Health and Human Services might become a clearing house for useful information regarding education--ACT and SAT and other standardized exams. And they could maintain a data base of colleges, entrance requirements and such so public and private schools would have quick access to information to provide to their students. And they could provide test score data to public schools so they can know how well they are doing educating compared to everyone else.

But they sure don't need a whole huge department of 4,400 employees to maintain a data base and the federal government should never be in the business of telling anyone what they must teach. Leave that to the states; ideally to the local communities, parents, teachers, school boards.

Real anarchists want to know what took so long, and why only that department?

Real anarchists say fuck that. They prefer to terminate the entire federal government.

I personally cannot stand the far left nor the far right.

Don't guys like Roger Stone and Steven Miller concern you at all?

They concern me, so does this.

You should read it then.

Closing the department — an off-and-on Republican goal since it was created in 1979 — would require congressional approval, and it’s unlikely Trump would have sufficient support.

Trump cannot eliminate the agency on his own. Doing so would not only require congressional approval but also a supermajority of 60 votes in the Senate as long as its filibuster rules remain in place.

Same BS, different year but it would be a happy surprise were it to come to pass.
Power of the purse - give it zero dollars in funding - it's gone.

Not zero dollars. Give it 10,000 for minimal janitor service.
