Apparently there will not be a comedian but a mentalist. Some are suggesting this is the only way Trump would do the show as he does not like the viciousness of the jokes (which have been particularly vicious against GOP of late).

In the old days the jokes were there but there was some decorum. I recall the jokes made against Sarah Sanders which were particularly cruel. Some of us can handle that but others may not enjoy it.
