Trump Threatens the Business Licenses of Broadcasters Who Continue to Be Against Him

If you wish to join the Army, there is a contract and stipulations.

If you wish to broadcast, there is a contract and stipulations.

No one is forcing you to join the Army. No one is forcing you to choose over the air broadcasting.

There is the internet, cable and satellite. No one is REQUIRED to license broadcast frequencies...are they?

If you wish to license public broadcast frequencies, you give up your right to lie.

If you wish to retain your right to lie, you have many other avenues to pursue your deceitfulness.

It is in the public interest to require broadcasters to be honest.

This is an excellent trade.
The ownership of ABC or the ownership of Disney, for that matter, see a broadcast license as a valuable thing. And it sure has been.

With lax enforcement of its regulations, the FCC broadcast licenses are even more attractive.

Now, all of a sudden, the government has reasserted that the grant of a license IS, in fact, conditioned on a variety or rules and regulations.

I don’t buy for a moment the unconfirmed claims that the FCC has entered into the business of impeding free speech. But this doesn’t mean that a propagandist host of a late night “talk” show, like the miserable scumbag, Jimmy Kimmel, should be free to offer lies to the public where the network is supposed to be concerned with the public interest.

And network affiliates are probably more in touch with the public in their particular locations. So affiliates are perfectly free to put pressure on on the network, too.

Here, for.obvious business reasons, which supersede any network consideration of their political propaganda agenda, the network responded accordingly.

Good!

In a post Jimmy Kimmel interview on AF One, President Trump asserted he may revoke the licenses of other broadcasters that are "against" him. I am sure its fine.

  • President Donald Trump suggested that the federal government might revoke the licenses of broadcast television networks that are “against” him.
  • Trump’s comment came a day after ABC suspended airing the “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” show because of comments its host made linking the alleged killer of Charlie Kirk to Trump’s MAGA movement.
  • Trump said it would be up to FCC Chairman Brendan Carr to decide whether to

President Donald Trump on Thursday suggested that the federal government might revoke the licenses of broadcast television networks that are “against” him.

Trump’s comment came a day after ABC suspended airing the “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” show because of comments its host made linking the alleged killer of conservative activist Charlie Kirk to Trump’s MAGA movement.

“I have read someplace that the networks were 97% against me, again, 97% negative, and yet I won and easily, all 7 swing states,” Trump told reporters, referring to his 2024 election win.

“They give me only bad publicity, press. I mean, they’re getting a license,” Trump said, according to audio from a press gaggle aboard Air Force One provided by the White House.

“I would think maybe their license should be taken away,” Trump said.

The president said that the decision “will be up to Brendan Carr,” the chairman of the Federal Communications Commission.
That's the nature of licensing...The licensed is extended a privilege from the licensor.

This is also why there's no profanity, nudity, and gore on over-the-air broadcasting.

Don't like it, get rid of the licenses.

Or, better yet, use them to get revenge on people you don't like!

That has already happened...Why is it suddenly the most egregious thing anyone has ever seen when Orange Man does it?
It's been egregious for decades. The only thing that's changed is that Republicans used to oppose the practice. Now they're all in.

Or, better yet, use them to get revenge on people you don't like!
"You cannot intentionally lie about the facts of a national news story" is not revenge...it's a completely reasonable position.

Kimmel didn't have to double down... he could have admitted there was no evidence to support his statement. That would have been the reasonable and responsible thing to do.

But Kimmel's INTENTION was to mislead. Apologizing and admitting the truth ran counter to his intention to spread false information using his over-the-air broadcast platform. So the broadcasting stations...the ones that would have born the brunt of the consequences offered an ultimatum ... apologize or be preempted. Kimmel CHOSE preemption.

Those are the facts.

LOl.

The Committee to Protect Journalists conducted its first examination of U.S. press freedoms amid the Obama administration’s unprecedented number of prosecutions of government sources and seizures of journalists’ records. Usually the group focuses on advocating for press freedoms abroad.

Did anyone go to prison?
LOL.
Did anyone go to prison?

A dishonest news media can do great harm to a nation...

What are they doing exactly?
Spreading propaganda from the owner of the TV stations.
Hard to hear the exact wording, but it seems like a public service announcement warning about the dangers of fake news and bias.
As they spread fake news and bias.
Like Russia, all the same message.
Fake news like the lies Kimmel was attempting.

Yes. For sure, I think we all need to be on the look out for that.

I've been taken in too.

I once started a thread based on a Gateway Pundit article that turned out to be fake news.

I was incredibly embarrassed. I had started a thread that my compatriots had joined and argued and it made us all look foolish... just like Kimmel's falsehood makes those who believe it and regurgitate it look foolish.

That (my thread) might have been a decade ago. I don't defend Gateway Pundit, I don't read Gateway Pundit and if I do discuss Gateway Pundit I add the fact that I was burned by one of their stories and are not reliable.

Here are the receipts:

Yes, you do, you're one of many that spread fake news.

15th post
Especially when its not true, and you're a murderer and a deviant living with a transsexual like Tyler Robinson.
At least you seem to understand that being called “MAGA” is a vile thing

Then they should not broadcast Trump while he is telling his lies.

Assholes, such as you, love censorship and imagine you have the sole ability to distinguish lies from truth.

That makes assholes, like you, dangerous to our freedoms and liberties.

I’d we censored the commentary of Presidents based on dishonesty, ex-President Potato would never have had to demonstrate his full blown dementia.
