Trump targets homeless problem

Homelessness can be solved by providing millions of free dwellings for the homeless.

I believe such solutions have been tried and it failed miserable.

I ask again, if
in a year or two, there is major improvement in some cities, that will reveal that the problem CAN be addressed.

Do you agree with that?

All problems have some sort of solution. I would have to know what those major improvements are.

The Pre War Socialists ( FDR new Deal and Governors like Huey Long ) put them to work ( building Dams , Bridges , Roads , Infrastructure , and Housed Fed and provided Security for them
That was the WPA. I agree that something like that would be helpful today. I wouldn't call it Socialism though.

No, it isn't. That's a myth cooked up by the left. Unlike you, I have actually worked with the homeless. Over 90% of them are either mentally ill, drug addicts, or both and many of them refuse help. They don't want to go to shelters because then they have to follow rules, so they stay on the streets where they can drink their booze or shoot up their drugs.

The amount of people who are truly homeless due to their lack of being able to afford housing is miniscule.
Incorrect. The number is not 90 percent. I worked for one of the largest homeless agencies on the West Coast for several years. Affordable housing is an issue. Furthermore, when Reagan decided to cut funding for mental health, mental health facilities started closing everywhere and the streets started t fill up with those mental patients. Our government has been wholly inept in dealing with this problem in the manner in which it needs to be dealt with. Instead of spending trillions on bombs and billions to militarize police, we should put billions in on mental health care, drug addiction and affordable housing.

Years ago, I worked on a project that addressed addiction, jobs and housing. The program was fairly successful in reducing homelessness, but people do relapse and it seems that Repubicans aren't equipped to handle this reality. Instead, we see simple-minded comments like they just don't want to stop doing drugs instead of understanding that addiction is a lifelong process and long-term funding must be made available in order to reduce the number of people who relapse.

True, I've been saying that forever.

Who's doing NOTHING.....that would be Congress.

I'm NOT a member of Congress.
Those people in Congress are ALL worthless scum, including the POTUS and his Cabinet.
There have been prior Dem Admins, Xiden, Obama for example, did they do anything like this? Nope.

There are dems that run the state of California, and cities there, where homelessness has been an epidemic, they have done nothing,

and yet you are hear, attacking Trump for at least trying.

Typical dembot

Attacking trump. Don’t think so

I just want to know the plan (or as martybegan says) an outline.

Where are the members of congress who represent these districts? Nancy Pelosi's congressional district is a filthy mess littered with human excrement and dirty needles and yet she does nothing to deal with the situation. How do these people get reelected? Is it A.I. voting?
Yes, where was President Pelosi regarding the problem of homelessness? Wait.......

National Homelessness Law Center condemns Trump’s misguided Executive Order on homelessness

Allow people to camp in the street and on the sidewalks.

This is huge. The status quo, where the goal was to get these people back into society, has clearly been a massive failure.

I have been supporting this idea for years. It is cleary the right answer. THis could save thousands of lives. And reclaim our cities.

Hell,l maybe bring back the 24 hour donut shop and grocery stores.

Discuss.

These are american citizens. They must be treated kindly. But perhaps that goes against what jesus taught.
