Trump slaps 25% tariff on steel and aluminum imports

According to one of his advisors today he said that the last tariff brought in 120k steel jobs.
The first time around, Trump's tariffs ended up with the largest trade deficits with China and Mexico in US history.

Insanity: Doing the same thing over and over, expecting a different result.
 
Canada is angry. The question is, do we apply tariffs on other nations including the U.S.? Yes, we do. I don't like tariffs against Canada but we should be 3x the size of our economy with the situation we have had for 40 years. Instead, we destroy our best and brightest. I reached out 20 years ago but our governments are arrogant and unwilling to defend citizens.

When Trump offered a complete Free Trade option at the G7 in 2017 or so, no tariffs, no subsidies or anything and none of the leaders accepted.

Now he is cornered to protect his economy.

Canada's steel and aluminum industries find themselves once again watching for any news out of the White House after U.S. President Donald Trump promised to impose 25 per cent tariffs on imports.

Tariffs on imported refined metals are a more traditional method of tariffs, designed to protect or foster development of native production.
