His tariffs will be shot down by the Supreme Court with a ruling likely before years end imo, so it does nothing for next year's election...again, imo.

Plus...the president also doesn't have the Constitutional power to give a tax rebate dividend, nor to tax....it would need Congressional doing, both house and Senate....and Rs are likely to lose the house in 2026....which is what usually happens in OFF Presidential Election years...midterms.

So, if he did this before mid terms....

If a dividend is issued it should be based on the amount of federal taxes a recipient has paid in federal taxes.

Much like how Virginia returns excess taxes to it's taxpayers.

If you have not paid in, then you get nothing.

Gonna have to go with "not sure this is a good idea".....It should only be given out to taxpayers.

Secondly, if this were to happen, all that it would accomplish is to repay taxpayers a portion of the money that was extracted from them through the higher prices cased by the tariffs

Trump can use tariffs or he can use other tools at his disposal. Some of which you'll like even less. Like, stopping FLAT, imports of certain goods or limiting them severely or delaying them in port for Months at a Time.

Under an emergency they have given presidents LIMITED powers...none are powers to tax...which tariffs are included as taxes, their monies collected from Americans go directly in to our tax revenues collected spot.

The power to embargo in an emergency, like a war....would certainly be one of those powers given in an emergency to the president by congress...that isn't taxing us Ed.

Actually, this ruling is on something a little different. They are ruling on the LAW that Trump is using to give himself this across the board tariff power, assuming congress did approve the emergency power...from my understanding....

The law he is using, makes no mention of tariffs as a temporary power he can use, that congress is giving him control over that is their congressional constitutional duty.

but only the fools would be satisfied with another likely, empty promise...and why risk that chance when they could vote republicans out and get a permanent fix by tariffs being dropped altogether, and most importantly... NOT BEING RELIANT on the govt giving you a $2000 dividend each year....a dividend they could stop at any time?

All of those people who criticized Trump’s Tariff plan and are eligible for any dividend from tariff revenue, let’s see you be consistent and refuse it or at least return it to the Treasury. All of the Mamdani supporters should fork their tariff dividend checks over to him as he is already demanding funds for his campaign.

Also, I am curious how the fat rapist is going to pay out $300+ billion in dividends from about $215 billion in tariffs collected, especially when the SCOTUS seems close to making the corrupt administration pay back half of that.

While also paying down the debt somewhat, this is almost certainly the right play.

The worst outcome for the world would be the U.S becoming insolvent and/or hitting hyper-inflation. If needs to continue to push the idea of Americans all pulling the same rope and in doing so they will receive benefits of the tariff paid for primarily by foreign countries when they absorb the costs in order to remain competitive.

If he doesn't win the tariff case he will pursue other avenues and perhaps even cut off unfair trading partners.
