Trump says a tariff dividend of 'at least' $2,000 will be paid to most Americans

  • President Donald Trump on Sunday announced that a $2,000 tariff dividend would be paid to Americans.

  • In a post on Truth Social, Trump said the payments would be for all but "high income people."

  • The president also called critics of tariffs "fools" and said the US was taking in "trillions of dollars."
President Donald Trump on Sunday announced that a dividend payment of "at least" $2,000 would be paid to most Americans from US tariff revenues.

In a post on Truth Social, he wrote: "We are taking in Trillions of Dollars and will soon begin paying down our ENORMOUS DEBT, $37 Trillion."

"A dividend of at least $2000 a person (not including high income people!) will be paid to everyone."

Gonna have to go with "not sure this is a good idea".....It should only be given out to taxpayers.

If deadbeats are gonna get it then I say use it to help pay down the National Debt.

Always keep that in mind.

If SCOTUS rules against Trump, I fear the worst. He might ignore them. Which he should.

If SCOTUS Is saying Trump Usurped Congressional Authority, then why isn't Congress involved in the Lawsuit? Did Congress pass a bill restricting Trump? No? Then WHAT THE **** IS SCOTUS doing in this fight?

If SCOTUS has any brains (See above %%) they will rule that only Congress can bring this to the Court. Since the suit alleges OMB took away Congressional Power, then let Congress object.

SCOTUS should have never heard this case. Congress isn't objecting, only dimocrap scum are. And if the economy tanks after this ruling.

I strongly recommend SCOTUS looks at the old saying "A switch in time that saved nine"

Good to see you practicing basic math. Now work on Reading Comprehension:

The two G's will not being going to all 160ish million taxpayers, but it will be a big help to the working class and the working poor especially. It will more than cover the $57 dollars per month increase in their ACA marketplace out of pocket premiums caused by the expriration of the temporary covid suplementary subsidy.
Wow, all those lies in one place...

Where to start?

Lets look at "high income people". Usually that's folks making more than a 1/4 of a million a year. That's like 3% of folks, so I stand by "160ish million" taxpayers.

Now the subsidy expiration: They are talking about doubling the cost to people. For most folks that's gonna be quite a bit more than "$57.00 a month". In fact for some it could be 20 times that. But even if it's not, if you make so little money that essentially your whole plan is paid by the subsidies leaving you only payin' $50 a month or so, having that double is not gonna be a small impact on people who earn that little.

This will, again, impact poor people the most.

As is Trump. That's why he rattled this off.

"I had planned to give everyone $2000 (not that he can even do it on his own) but the evil Supreme Court wouldn't allow it".

Congress isn't objecting because they can't...speaker Johnson used a dirty trick to prevent congress from voting on the alleged emergency that might have given Trump the power....by law, Congress is suppose to vote yes or no on Trump's emergency power within 14 days....but Johnson did some maneuvering to say, that the rest of the year in Congress, is just 1 day...the fiscal year ended Sept 30th, so in October the Congress would finally get their chance to vote!

BUT GUESS WHAT? Speaker Johnson recessed Congress and sent them home with the govt shut diwn....so they STILL can't vote!

Johnson KNOWS that Congress WILL NOT vote to give Trump this across the board, all countries, emergency power.

This is why Johnson did his first dirty trick, he KNEW Congress critters would not vote to do this and give up, their constitutional duty and power to tax, to trump...and now this new dirty trick of putting congress in recess.

In Congress, a Day Can Last Months if Politics Demands It

House Republicans are so intent on avoiding tough votes on President Trump’s tariffs that they have rewritten the calendar.

What if you could prolong today to avoid making an uncomfortable decision tomorrow?

For most human beings, that’s not possible. But in the alternate reality that is Congress, which operates according to its own arcane rules and precedents and is exempt from the statutes that bind the rest of us, a day can be as long or short as the laws of political gravity demand.

That is how it came to pass that House Republicans in recent weeks declared the rest of the year one long day when it came to considering a challenge to President Trump’s tariffs. They would prefer to avoid votes on whether to scrap the levies, but the law says the House must consider them within a set period of time.

The obvious solution? Stop time.

It was hardly the first time congressional leaders have meddled with the laws of the universe for the sake of political expediency. By bending legislative time, House and Senate leaders have long found ways to buy themselves wiggle room for negotiation, preserve their prerogatives and shield their members from votes they would rather not have to cast.

EVERYONE, is paying the tariff, period! In the price of their goods....there is no one that isn't... If they buy food....if they buy clothes...if they buy shoes...if they buy a phone, if they buy Christmas gifts, if they buy a car....if they buy coffee, if they go out to eat, if they buy envelopes, if they buy medicines etc etc etc....and the American importer might pay some...if he doesn't pass on all of the tariff....

There is no one in a foreign country we import from that can be taxed with tariffs....we legally can't tax another country and force them to pay us....we can only make Americans pay the tariff taxes....and anyone else visiting the USA.

THIS is a BIG GOVERNMENT ploy....a BIG BUREAUCRACY build up....making us pay the tariff only to then return some of it, so they can legislate it to their favorites....how about we don't get a tax increase at all...no taxation without representation!

Trump Tariffs are not going to be legal...they are unconstitutional as they sit....and the Trump team knows it, that argued it in court.

This is just Trump trying to sweeten Trumper support or make him look better somehow in his head, when he loses this SC case.
Trying to help boost voter turnout for 2026. Isn't that a valid tactic?..

Hate to be suspicious, You can say anything, The question is when/ what year is this suppose to happen?
Was a time line given?

Was that part of the temporary subsidy increase due to Covid. This is Obamacare for gosh sakes. We were supposed to save tens of trillions of dollars. Remember? Utopia for all! And no increases to private insurance policies and the taxpayers.

Yeah, well, he says a lot of shit.
This will end up like his COVID stimulus and jack up inflation.

No, he recessed the House.....You know there's this thing called the Senate don't ya?

Why should the House be in session while the ball is in the vile dem's court in the Senate as far as reopening the .gov?

Nothing can happen on the House side (except grandstanding) till the vile dems vote to reopen the .gov.

Just looking at the Congressional calendar the vile dems have about run themselves into the Thanksgiving hole.

There were around 1100 flight cancelations yesterday. My Son in law barely made it out of O'Hare before United flights were canceled for the day.

Bullcrap!

You accuse Republicans of giving "tax breaks to the wealthy" and include anyone "wealthy" enough to pay taxes, which is who gets the tax breaks you cry about.

Where did you get the 1/4 million per year as the definition of "high income people?" Any place else but pulled it out of your ass?

Simple formula for Trump to keep his promise. This math may confuse you, but I'll try to make it simple.

x/2000 = y. (x = the amount of dollars from tariffs that Trump has to spend in the rebate and y = the number of people who could get the $2,000)

The y number of lowest income people get the $2,000. All others are "high income" for the purpose of this rebate.

He could also exclude anyone who did not pay any taxes. People who paid very low taxes would get only the amount that they paid.

It can easily work if Trump wants it to. The math of taxes is never as simple as your 5th grade level attempt.

Now the subsidy expiration: They are talking about doubling the cost to people.
No, more than double.

The typical ACA market place user pays $50 per month. With an increase of 114%, that means they would pay $107 per month. An increase of $57.

Fifty-seven dollars. That's what your party or "not your party" is currently starving the children of military members, air traffic controllers, measurers at the Bureau of Weights and Measures and every other federal employee for. Next month, they start starving SNAP recipients and WIC babies.

$57 per month > entire semi-monthly paychecks of all fedemps. That's how a Democrat or "not Democrat" does math.
For most folks that's gonna be quite a bit more than "$57.00 a month". In fact for some it could be 20 times that.
Only if they are making over 4 times the poverty rate, well over six figures.

I'm a teacher, so I don't make six figures. I have no interest in subsidizing health care for people who do make six figures from some sort of small business or freelance gig that doesn't have health insurance. I cannot afford to have a job that doesn't have health coverage, so why should I be forced to pay for it for someone else?

Let them get a job at Starbucks or UPS who offer health insurance to part timers almost immediately upon hiring.

But even if it's not, if you make so little money that essentially your whole plan is paid by the subsidies leaving you only payin' $50 a month or so, having that double is not gonna be a small impact on people who earn that little.

This will, again, impact poor people the most.
Oh boo-freaking-hoo!

Cry me a river over some part-time doordasher who is a "future video game tester in training" and "likes making my own hours" who is maxed out on Food Stamps, WIC, AFDC, and now will be asked to pay $57 bucks more for health insurance equal to what I pay $400 per month for thanks to the ACA.

Let him or her get a real job, like the overwhelming majority of Americans who are being asked by Democrats to pick up the slack for them.

His tariffs will be shot down by the Supreme Court with a ruling likely before years end imo, so it does nothing for next year's election...again, imo.

Plus...the president also doesn't have the Constitutional power to give a tax rebate dividend, nor to tax....it would need Congressional doing, both house and Senate....and Rs are likely to lose the house in 2026....which is what usually happens in OFF Presidential Election years...midterms.

Trump can use tariffs or he can use other tools at his disposal. Some of which you'll like even less. Like, stopping FLAT, imports of certain goods or limiting them severely or delaying them in port for Months at a Time.

dimocrap scum knew about the Tariffs LONG BEFORE THE SHUTDOWN. Why didn't they do something about it then?

SCOTUS has no business in this argument. They over-stepped their authority and it wouldn't surprise me for Trump to tell them go F themselves.

When Congress is back in Session and if they pass a bill restricting Trump's Tariff authority, that needs to be respected. But until then, SCOTUS needs to stay out of it. They don't belong.

SCOTUS is risking everything on this and I'm not sure this is the hill they want to die on.

We can pack the Court with 20 more Conservative Justices if we sweep the Mids. SCOTUS knows this.

And if the Markets collapse, SCOTUS and dimocrap scum will be blamed for it because -- It WILL be their fault.
