Trump right again they have come for the suburbs

This is great news, now I can put three more tiny homes in my backyard and charge $2K a month for each of them. Thanks Gavin, you just made it so I can pay my mortgage without working. I love it when democrats try to make things artificially cheaper. Easy to do because leftists can't see beyond the end of their noses.

That sounds great, until they tell your renters they don't have to pay rent...

That one of the many way to combat homelessness and make housing cheaper.
California being the worst lib shithole out of many blue states, it does seem to have some otherwise respectable people who are simply unable to afford the high price of housing there

but most homeless people in America have mental problems and/or drug addictions

Don't count on being saved by tiny homes. Looking at this law, approved homes will be duplexes, triplexes and apartment buildings or condos. In other words, contiguous units with shared walls. Many homes in Los Angeles have guest houses. That's what they want to get rid of.
Single family zoning means that a neighborhood that is zoned R-1 will be no longer. Zoning laws very seldom specify what type of structure is allowed. It just allows for more "residences" on the property.

The average single home price in California is $811,000.00. It is so high because 2/3rds of California homes are single family residents. So, this new law allows for residences to divide their lots to allow additional units.

Of course, in states like Florida that allow development on postage size lots and permit zero lot lines, this news is no big deal. Florida is extremely loose with their development laws. If Florida had California‘s restriction for single family residences only they would be screaming socialism!

The big deal is that the nice little neighborhoods will be turned into high density filthy slums.

CA is no different than FL re: zero lot lines and small parcels. I purchased a zero lot line "patio home" in CA in 1979 and I know of some CA municipalities that allow 40' wide lots.

Once again Trump has been proven correct as California criminalizes single family homes. Now comes the army of inspectors to condemn homes and force their sale. This has been going on in a small scale for years. Now is the time to abolish neighborhoods.

This could backfire. Instead of affordable housing it might be luxury condos with rooftop pools.

I heard the Bai Dung and Newsome have been discussing plans to build high rise apartment buildings along the San Andreas and other minor fault lines, :abgg2q.jpg:

Politicians don't worry about fault lines.

That may be hyperbole. The law that Newsom signed gave more rights to homeowners, not less.

I think the unintended consequence of this law is not that it will turn neighborhoods into slums, but that it will actually raise property values as now there will be more uses for a home owners property. An average home price of $811,000 may seem like a bargain in a few years.

Having said all that, I would have opposed the change myself. Given all the environmental problems California is having, now is not the time to encourage more building.

Undoubtedly. It will be like Manhattan. Very expensive but places you wouldn't actually enjoy living in. California has serious problems not shared by the over crowded east. We have lack of water, blackouts, fires. This isn't some craziness dreamed up by a Garcetti or Breed. This is the entire state.

I added in my post that I would have opposed the change for the reasons you cited.

You are right.

lol

Show me one news article where they condemn a home due to it being zoned "single family".
