When a congress critter spends the bulk of his time in congress is it worth it owning a house in your district or do you find a more economical method to live part time in you district. I realize that you would rather have a MAGA grifting through various methods so that he can have the funds to own a house in both his district and DC but I find it very conservative to have the 3 rooms in someone elses house in your district so that you can at least afford a 1 bedroom apartment in DC. Sleeping on the congress office couch isn't exactly a good thing.

It's heating up in the race for California governor. As is always happens this has gone from "right wing conspiracy talking point" to well...... reality and a legitimate concern now that it is being brought up by Tom Steyer who is running for California Governor as a Democrat.

There's all the usual counterpoints but really, at the end of the day this is about much more than if the letter of the law is being followed.

He's not a real Californian at this stage. His family, home and entire life is in Washington DC. He does the absolute minimum he believes he can get away with and still try to claim some sort of California residency.

At a minimum the argument becomes that Erik Swalwell can't afford to live in California but wants to be the governor of the state he helped fail. I'm not sure that's a winning position.

At what point are Democrats going to hold their own candidates to some sort of standards? The should at least have their families, lives and actual legitimate residency in the place they want to represent.
