Hillary is a joke. But all the others do not impress me at all, by and large. This nation needs a leader, one who is bold and willing to publicly address the woeful congress and all other issues. Trump is the antithesis of the guy hiding under his oval office desk.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Trump wants more Christian immigration
Donald Trump, married three times, the ruthless business titan in reality TV shows, might not appear to be the knight in shining armor that attracts Christian voters in the crowded 2016 Republican primary.
Not at first glance, at least.
But is there something in those steely blue eyes and mop of blond hair, with all his worldly success at making money, that could make him the warrior of the right?
Trump started rising in the polls after making the comment that Mexico is ânot sending their bestâ to America and that among those coming in illegally are a high percentage of rapists, murderers and other violent felons.
But thatâs not all Trump is saying. Heâs also speaking up for Syriaâs persecuted Christians.
Though you wonât read about it in the establishment media, Trump has been making repeated comments about persecuted Christians in Syria and the difficulty theyâve had in coming to the West as refugees or asylum seekers.
At a speech in Las Vegas last weekend, Trump said those persecuted for their Christian faith by Muslims in Syria ought to be brought to America. And, if he were president, heâd make sure they get a one-way ticket to that safe haven.
Trump is now leading the Republican pack in a new July 17 Fox News poll, much to the consternation of the establishment media and those in his own party. His meteoric rise to 18 percent support among likely GOP primary voters is now ahead of second-place Scott Walker with 15 percent, Jeb Bush 14 percent, Rand Paul 8 percent and Marco Rubio 7 percent.
Here is a bit from his speech in Las Vegas:
âIf youâre from Syria and youâre a Christian, you cannot come into this country. And theyâre the ones that are being persecuted. If youâre Islamic and you come in, hard to believe, you can come in so easily. In fact, itâs one of our main groups of people that are coming in. Not that we should discriminate against one or the other. But if youâre Christian, you cannot get into the country. You cannot get in. I thought that was unbelievable. We have to do something about it.â
He said he was proud of his Christian heritage:
âYou know a lot of people donât know Iâm Protestant. Nobody believes me. Iâm Presbyterian, can you believe this? Presbyterian. We have to protect our people. Theyâre being beheaded. And they canât come in. But other people that arenât being persecuted, certainly not to the same extent, they can come in, from the same country. Oh I could talk about Syria all day long. Just Syria.â
He made similar comments to CBN News in May:
âWell itâs a very big message. First of all Iâm protestant. Iâm Presbyterian. Iâm proud of it. Iâm very proud of it. If youâre a Christian living in Syria, you canât come into this country. And yet if youâre a Muslim living in Syria, who are not under attack, they can come in. But we have Christians being beheaded all over the world, by ISIS, in Syria and Iraq in particular, and those Christians canât come into this country. So you say what you want, I mean this is really, something. And thatâs a lack of respect, for us. If youâre a Muslim, you can come into the country very eas[ily]. If youâre from Europe and youâre a Muslim, you can come in. But if youâre from Europe and youâre a Christian, you canât come in, meaning itâs almost impossible. So you tell me about religious liberty and freedom. The Christians are being treated horribly because we have nobody to represent the Christians. Believe me, if I run and I win, I will be the greatest representative of the Christians that theyâve had in a long time.â
Trumpâs first mention of the plight of Syrian Christians came at the Iowa National Security Conference in May 18, sponsored by Frank Gaffneyâs Center for Security Policy. Heâs now on a roll and doesnât appear ready to let up on the issue, as WND has learned that Trump is committed to learning all he can about Christian persecution in the Middle East.
Among U.S.-bound Syrian refugees, Muslims dominate. WND crunched the numbers on Syrian refugees brought to the U.S. over the past 12 months and found Trumpâs statements to be generally accurate.
According to the U.S. State Departmentâs database, 1,003 Syrians entered the U.S. under the refugee resettlement program between July 15, 2014 and July 15, 2015. Of that group, 950, or 94.7 percent, have been Muslim with the vast majority of those being Sunni Muslim. Only 39 people, or 3.8 percent, of refugees from Syria have been Christian.
Part of the problem is that the United Nations chooses more than 95 percent of the refugees destined for America. That has been the structure under which the U.S. has resettled refugees since 1980, when Congress passed the Refugee Act of 1980, crafted by former Sens. Ted Kennedy and Joe Biden and signed by President Jimmy Carter.
Trump on guns, marriage, abortion
Besides being an advocate for persecuted Christians and trying to bring more of them to the U.S., Trump has also gone on the record as pro-life and pro-gun.
On the issue of marriage, Trump told openly gay MSNBC host Thomas Roberts in November 2013 that he was âevolvingâ on the issue but remained committed to traditional one-man, one-woman marriage.
âI think really what you have is a very changing stance, and you see it changing very rapidly. If you go back 10 years ago, itâs very different. I think Iâm evolving, and I think Iâm a very fair person, but I have been for traditional marriage. I am for traditional marriage. I am for a marriage between a man and a woman,â he told Roberts.
Trump is also playing up his plans to beef up the military.
At the Iowa National Security Action Summit on May 18, about a month before Trump declared his candidacy, he presented his ideas on the military, immigration and trade.
âDid you know ISIS opened a hotel the other day? Theyâre opening hotels. Can you believe this? And theyâre getting the money from the oil. Then we have a guy like Bush, heâs a very nice guy I think. But he couldnât even answer the question (about Iraq),â Trump said.
He said America is no longer respected in the world.
âWhat do we have in Iraq? Nothing. We canât even go there. What did we get? And if you look, back in 2004, I have good judgment. Good financial judgment. Good military judgment. But I have good judgment. And Read it, Reuters 2004 âTrump: donât go into Iraq.â And I said exactly what was going to happen. I said Iran will take over Iraq, theyâll take over the oil fields, and other bad groups. And I said the meanest, worst human being in the world will take over the whole thing, who hates the United States the most. Thatâs exactly what happened. It turned out to be ISIS. Doesnât make me feel any better, but Iâm the one who predicted it. The other people, most of them voted for it, like Hillary, like almost all others.â
On immigration and trade
âSo we have to do the something for our border,â Trump said. âWe have to build our military, we have to take care of our vets, we have to take care of a lot of things, and we have to make our country rich again. Somebody said the other day, âOh thatâs not nice. Thatâs not politically correct right now.â But we canât be great unless weâre rich. And right now China and Mexico, and all these other countries, Mexico is killing us at the border but theyâre also totally destroying us economically. Itâs becoming the car capital of the world. Theyâre killing us. And their leaders are smarter than our leadersâ
âOur leaders are extremely dumbâ
Not only are Chinaâs leaders smarter, the U.S. is producing leaders who are dumb and getting dumber, Trump said.
âThey think our leaders are extremely dumb. I happen to agree with them. They canât even, honestly, believe they get away with it. Iâm very friendly with China; they pay me $25 million for an apartment. Am I supposed to dislike them? But the truth is, they canât believe they get away with it. And I donât dislike the Chinese. I think theyâre wonderful. I mean, frankly, they just have much smarter leaders than our leaders. But you look at what theyâre doing from a military standpoint, you look at the navy theyâre building, and the armies and all the things theyâre building, where theyâre having places built in the sea. ⌠I jokingly say to people, âYou think they got environmental impact statements?ââ
Obama trumped by terrorists
Trump wasnât impressed with Obamaâs negotiating skills.
âThis is our leaders. We get Bergdahl. They get five killers, and theyâre all back on the battlefield now.â
âOur military has been decimated. Weâre not getting the kind of equipment we need. Itâs incredible,â Trump continued. âWe should not have gone to Iraq. But then once we were there, decisions were made to peel out, and then everything collapsed after that.â
And what about Yemen?
âThe president stands up and says big victory, big victory Yemen. Great victory. Three weeks later, they got overthrown, and we left 700 million worth of equipment,â Trump said. âTanks and trucks and armor and planes, we just left it. And the enemy picked it up, for nothing, and people donât even talk about it. We left it there.â
Heâs also not a fan of this countryâs relationship with Saudi Arabia.
âAnd then we protect Saudi Arabia. They make a billion dollars a day. So we protect them, and they give us nothing,â Trump said. âThen we have a meeting, and they wonât show up, because they donât have respect for the country. ⌠You look at that Yemen border, Saudi Arabiaâs in trouble, because they havenât been good fighters. But if Saudi Arabia is making a billion dollars a day, why arenât they paying us?â
Same goes for South Korea, he said.
âWhenever South Korea has a problem (with communist North Korea), we send our ships over there,â he said.
âThey donât give us anything. ⌠I just ordered 4,000 televisions, canât buy them in the U.S. They all come from South Korea. South Korea is killing us on trade. You canât buy a TV made in America.
âSo we need to do better on trade. We need better people representing us on trade.â
