Trump accomplished one of two possible objectives. One possibility was that Putin really wanted the war to end and would be satisfied with what he has, which is what he stated was the reason for going to war in the first place. The other possibility was the Putin wanted to conquer Ukraine and wasn't interested in any peace that didn't end with that. Trump has proven to the world that Putin doesn't want peace and despite his claims wants to conquer Ukraine. That gives the anti-Russian forces, both inside and outside Ukraine the moral high ground and allows Trump to be viewed as a peacemaker who Putin betrayed. Now Trump can take action without having to worry about pro-Russian actions inside the USA and in the rest of the world. It also lessens the PRC's support for Putin and makes it more likely that the PRC will take some sort of action against Russia.

You are talking about what could happen. It has not happened yet. Trump said he would end the war on day 1. Another promise not kept.
