Trump inks EU trade deal. His tariff strategy is working as planned.

President Trump and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced Sunday that the US and EU had agreed to the framework of a trade deal that included a baseline tariff rate of 15% on EU goods imported into the US.

Agreed to a framework?

Meanwhile, another round of US-China talks kicked off on Monday, with markets hoping for another extension of the countries' trade truce.

Wasn't the Trump trade deal with China a done deal?

Whom do you think pays them?
The cost of tariffs are shared by:
  • Importers: U.S. companies that import goods pay the tariffs directly to the government when the goods enter the country.
  • Consumers: Importers often pass these costs onto consumers, leading to higher prices for goods. Studies indicate that U.S. consumers and firms bear the full burden of tariffs, with estimates suggesting an average cost of over $2,300 per household annually due to increased prices.
  • Foreign Suppliers: In some cases, foreign suppliers may absorb part of the tariff costs by lowering their prices to maintain competitiveness, but this is less common with recent tariffs.
Then again, if you buy American there are no tariffs to pay.

I'm baffled as to why you say tariffs don't hit US consumers when tariffs are a direct tax on them.

Gotta keep the narrative?

There has to be Americans manufacturing on the items you want to buy...which there is not!

American manufacturing closed shop, for decades now....on most things....and if they are still manufacturing in the USA, the components used in production, come from overseas and tariffs are paid on the components of the product....so.....

Even American manufactured and produced goods have higher prices due to tariffs.

Of course it is. How the **** would anyone word it? Did you expect "wills and going tos"
Well, if the first disaster of tariffs didn't re-shore jobs....there is no reason to think this round of tariffs will re-shore jobs.
Earlier you signed as "Just Stupid".... Now you're signing as "Idiot". Make up your mind dick lips.

If the American manufacturer is using only parts sourced from America...you would be right. Few (if any) do that outside of agriculture.

So you're celebrating tax increases...

Yes...you are batshit crazy.

And, of course, American made goods by American manufacturers raise their price to take advantage of the higher prices their foreign made competitors are getting for their goods as well. Again, US made cars should be thousands of dollars cheaper than imports. Instead, they are more expensive than ever.

The demented LEFT are firm in their feels that TARIFFS ARE BAD.
No amount of factual data or REALITY can sway them.
They are subverted demoralized ZOMBIES.
It's not even worth exchanging dialogue with these stubborn mindless assholes, they bleeeeeeve what they want to, and THAT's THAT.
It is actually heartbreaking that these souls are so lost.
Oh well.... :dunno:

There is no factual data that shows willy nilly tariffs are good. It's simply a way for our government to tax the middle and lower class without saying you are raising their taxes on average $2300 a year.

See?
So sad.

If tariffs raise $300b a year in revenue, my point is that not all $300b is not paid by consumers.
If tariffs allow us to start paying down the debt, that is a very good thing.

We owe $37T.
We pay more than $1T in interest a year on that debt.
Yes its a tax increase to pay down the debt, I'm not celebrating, its a necessary tax to save the US dollar.

I'm not disagreeing. My point is that tariffs are necessary to raise revenue and increase US manufacturing.

But why are across the board tariffs good? So you, (the plural YOU) can tax us peons more and pay for the wealthiest's income tax cuts and have us peons reduce the deficit via being taxed more?

If your going to do that, you should at least be honest about it.

All the bedwetting about rampant inflation and supply chain disruptions were lies.

More Trump winning for America, more losing for the Democrats party.

The big trade deals with the EU really have to piss off US libs big time. It isn't just the Trump is winning again, but the fact that their Eurotrash allies and idols aren't even trying to resist Trumponomics and aren't trying to bring down the millions of little Trumpsters.

The Left is crestfallen
