Trump, being a retard, plans to continue the policy that has kept Cuba communist for 70 years, and allowed Castro to die old, rich, and beloved

I actually believed that a free Cuba would be a rich nation when opened up a bit. As I watch the corruption of most of the other islands in the Caribbean I believe Cuba is better staying a pariah to communism. We have given Puerto rico hundreds of billions of dollars over the years and it has become a socialistic corrupted island that has used its sugar daddy to maximum parasite advantage. The sad thing there are other island that would have begged for what Puerto Rico has been given.

Puerto Rico has a higher GDP than 14 states. They also pay taxes on goods despite receiving almost nothing from the U.S. Even when obliterated by a historic storm, the President attacks them and battles against funding the rescue of American citizens living there.

My daughter went on one 3 weeks ago, it is probably a good thing.
They had a terrible time, felt horrible for all of the kids that follow them around begging for money. Infrastructure isn't even remotely ready for tourism. Tour guides tell sad stories about the dual currency they have (I didn't know this) and no matter how hard you work you can't break out of the slums etc.

If walking around in scenes like this...add people following you around trying to get money from you, people running up to you trying to sell stuff to you.... then you would love it.

My stepmother went last year--she reported similar stuff. She's used to pretty high end accomodations and said that even though they were warned, it was still very basic. While she was watching CNN news (the only one at the hotel), all of a sudden it cut out. Blank screen. No more news. So she was a good communist and switched stations, watched a sitcom. She said they felt "followed and watched" very carefully.

Yes, she said the same thing. When they were out somewhere the tour guide guy would talk up Cuba, talk about how great the area is etc. But back in the cab he would tell them how second class citizens (98% of the population) use a different currency than what they give to Americans and what government officials/party members use that is worth 25 times what they are paid. So when the government tells tourist people are paid $10 an hour...they are really only paid like $.40 an hour

Mexico away from the U.S. border, besides Mexico City is not bad. Different than in America for sure, but absolutely nothing like Cuba.
Aguascalientes, where my 1st wifes family is from, is quite nice. Pretty much all over the city. People live quite normal, comfortable lives there. Not in Cuba.
What we see in the U.S. the most is towns near the border where the miscreants thrive.

High and dry implies leaving people stranded on the land, here they will have to modify the cruise itinerary to either make it a "sea" day, or find another visitation port.
