Canada, Finland, Ireland, New Zealand, Belgium, Bolivia, Singapore, Switzerland among others all have multiple official languages.

I lived about 6 hours north of you back then. I would've been your Dad's age. There were plenty Spanish speaking people there. I was working for a construction company that employed about 80 framing carpentaros. The union didn't like it, but there wasn't anything that they could do about it. They called the federalis a few times. Only Chencho would get caught and deported, because he was usually mucho cruedo. He'd always be back 4 days later.

I went to college in the early '90s (class of '95) and threw my nail bags in the dumpster. I worked in semiconductors and aviation after that, but never got up to my old construction income. That's most likely because CA pays double what TX does. But, it has double the cost of living.

Anyway, I made a whole bunch of life long friends that don't meet with your approval. We'd have a good laugh about that.

Yes, a great many people believe just that... myself? ...given the lack of precedent, I'm truly uncertain.

I tend to lean on the side of conservatism... allowing the greatest possible Local latitude in such mattters.
