From another perspective, Jews, Muslims and Christians mostly believe our spirits materialize with our bodies at conception. That our spirits did not exist before this. Yet, many of these homosexuals believe they are born inside the wrong bodies admitting to the individual spirit bodies that posses their physical bodies. If that were true that the spirit body somehow matured differently than the physical body, one as a male and the other as a female, then it would make sense for this feeling homosexuals have. However, that would make no scientific sense for the physical and spiritual to develop differently. Now, the LDS faithful (Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormons) believe that we all come from a more exalted sphere, Heaven as spirit children of our Father and Mother in Heaven. If this were so, could some spirits have been misplaced in the wrong bodies? It would make a more plausible reason for these feelings homosexuals have of being in the wrong bodies. However, God does not make mistakes. Especially something like this. In any event, one would have to believe in the spirit world and God with either way. Yet, many homosexuals have become atheists which would make no sense to continue with this "I'm in the wrong body."
So, is there any other reason for this feeling? We learn things at a very young age. We are very observant with those things going on around us. We learn by seeing, hearing and learning from our environment which includes other human beings. Years ago before the study of the brain and science got to where we are now, surveys were done asking homosexuals why they believe they are the way they are. the vast majority said that it was the environment they grew up in. The people around them and the observations they made. Most people have fetish things that they just can't seem to let go of once it's in their head. Most can and do, at least until recently. Now, people who would never think they are trans are becoming trans instead of just remaining homosexual. Children are being confused by evil adults who don't want to be so alone. They are recruiting children to be gay and lesbians and trans. It's so obvious and disgusting.
As far as adults and what they do to their bodies? They are setting bad examples for the children. They are saying mutilation is okay. It's really sad and very selfish. Bruce Jenner is a very selfish individual that caused his wife and children great harm even though they act like it doesn't hurt them. I've seen the same things happen with couples who have many children and then announce they are gay and break up the family. It's a real sickness.

Well, the operative question is: should the state prevent an adult from announcing that he/she is gay, or from cohabiting with another person of the same sex? Should it prevent, by law, an adult from making a sexual transition?

Of course everyone should have the right to voice their opinion on the harmfulness, or otherwise, of doing these things.

As to what causes people to be or become homosexual, or want to become the other sex, I believe we don't yet know.

There was a theory that it was a 'CBI' mother --'Close, Binding, Intimate' -- but I believe this was found not to explain all cases -- a correlation, but not 100% [ APA PsycNet ]

For a while, there was talk of the discovery of a 'gay gene', and the Darwinians worked overtime to explain how this could fit in with Darwinian theory. (Because surely such a gene would have eliminated itself.) Then it turned out to be a false trail. [ No ‘gay gene’: Massive study homes in on genetic basis of human sexuality ]

The thing is, we know very little about the brain so far. It's very complex, and we probably are still lacking some of the basic concepts we need. (We couldn't get very far in chemistry until we understood electrons.) We will, if we don't destroy ourselves in a big stupid war. We just have to wait a few more decades.

In the meantime, let's not let the government into our bedrooms.

The government is already in our bedrooms, living rooms, kitchens and bathrooms. It's called property tax and regulators. Also, if government can regulate speech with "hate speech" laws, then it can regulate everything else. We have laws to help mentally ill people from hurting themselves.
