If it were up to me, it would be a lot harder to get a gun.
When I got my mortgage, they did a credit check and asked me about every account I had opened in the last 20 years. It took 30 days to approve and the banker lady was amazed it went that fast.
When I sponsored my wife for residency, we had to pay $4000 for legal and filing fees, we both had to undergo background checks, and we had to submit 200 pages of documentation to prove it was a legitimate marriage. And seriously, she's not nearly as dangerous as an AR-15. (Except maybe her cooking! Lay off the spice, Honey!)
When I applied for my current job, I had to undergo a financial background check, they interviewed coworkers and former bosses, I underwent two rounds of interviews, and I had to piss in a bottle and have a six-month probationary period.
Making you wait for a gun doesn't seem unreasonable to me.
