I'm a huge Tolkien fan. Took myself off to Oxford once, to "walk in his footsteps". The university colleges where he had lectured; lunch in the pub where he used to meet fellow writers after lectures.

After reading LOTR, and his beautiful and lyrical use of language, I couldn't read anything else for quite a while.
